[FiiO M6] Portable High-Resolution Lossless Music Player,Embracing A Wireless Future

I'm on version 15.19.4 of Amazon Music. I will try 12.9.1, or 16.12.1, as also advised, cheers.

The main reason I chose the M6 is because it could run Tidal, Amazon Music, and Spotify, yet they've all now given me grief. The only thing that works ok is Fiio Music, which everybody seems to slate...
Sorry 16.12.1

I ended up buying a new Fiio M6 tonight. I bought the Fiio M3 Pro, but the sound quality was trash. Upon first listening, I knew I had made a mistake. Bass was lacking, soundstage was narrow, and everything sounded rather confined and compressed. Treble on the M3 Pro sounded rather artificial as well. With how ****ed everything is now, who knows when the M6 will show up. Shipping says it will show up next Friday, but as if. I am still waiting for my Pinnacle P1 iems to show up as well, which were supposed to be here 3 days ago. Anyways, I will give my impressions once I receive the M6. I am excited to get it.

Hi all.
Pretty useful charger for the M6. USB C (Lightning also available for iOS) doesn’t block the 3.5 port either (Lightning version does on my iPhone 6s Plus) Got mine through Amazon UK. Thought it useful, I have no affiliation with either Amazon or iWALK. About £20 ish.:)

The only problem to the FiiO M6 is the slow processor. It's form factor is the best and the fact it runs Amazon HD and Tidal well is brilliant. It runs most IEMs well, and has a good little screen and android operating system. Since the opening of the whitelist there is room to play around. I still love it.

I purchased fiio m6 and am very upset with the audio delay in usb-dac mode, I tried driver version 4.47 and 4.82, set 192/24 in windows settings, different buffers, but the delay prevents me from watching video with sound and playing games. will you fix the problem in the next firmware? thanks!

Does anybody drive Final E5000s with an NW-A100 series or A-50 series? How do they sound?
I reckon you would get more answers if you pose this question in the appropriate thread.

I know I've been critical of my M6 in this thread, but it has to be said, the stuttering in Tidal is almost non existent now. I can stream music and listen via Bluetooth headphones, and still no stuttering, even when using LDAC in sound quality priority mode. It's probably going to be down to either the latest firmware on the player, or this particular version of Tidal, but there was a time when this kind of performance was not possible.

Anbody else noticed the vast improvement in Tidal streaming and bluetooth performance?

My M6 showed up today. I have not had a chance to listen to it yet, as I just have it charging at the moment. It came with firmware 1.0.3. First impressions, without having the opportunity to listen to it yet, is I am very impressed. The build quality is fantastic, and the size of the unit is excellent. It feels very good in the hand. I will take a listen to it this evening and put up my impressions of how it sounds. I still have the Fiio M3 Pro here, which is currently up for sale. I will post a few comments about how these two units compare as well. I was not a fan of the sound of the M3 Pro. In my opinion, that unit is a waste of money. It has a rather mediocre sound quality.

I have been testing out my M6 for the last couple of hours with my Topping NX3S headphone amp paired with it. This is an excellent little DAP. This unit has a very interesting sound signature to it when considering it has a SABRE chip in there. Normally with these DAC chips, the experience ends up being rather bright. In the M6, there is no harshness or sibilant nature to the treble presentation at all. Everything is velvety smooth. Bass is rich and punchy. This unit has a slightly analog/vinyl character to its presentation which gives you nothing but an enjoyable foot tapping and musical experience. Mids are a bit warm and lush sounding. Soundstage is not insane in terms of width and depth, but it is definitely not narrow either. The sound quality is far better than the M3 Pro. Everything about the M6 is better. The bass is tighter, quicker, deeper, and has more body. The mids are more lush, layered, and realistic. Soundstage is wider with with more depth, and instrument presentation is far more on point. Treble, while not pushing the most in terms of extension and detail, does not have any of that artificial character that the M3 Pro has. The M6 just has a very smooth, velvety, and enjoyable sound signature. I am very impressed with this puppy for price. In my opinion, this DAP is pretty much the best option available in the 150 US price range. It certainly will not compete with 500 dollar DAPs, but it an excellent unit for 150 US.

Dear head-fiers, Fiio M6 users.

I´ve been looking to get a M6 for a few months now, checking reviews and comparisons all over the net. Reading througout the thread, it looks like the unit lacks processing power for some tasks, which can be mitigated by using better developed software.
My main usage will be with FLACs and Spotify, but I am also willing to try newer audio formats, Tidal and other high quality music streaming services, along with my Sennheiser cans and sometimes a bluetooth in ear phone.

Questions:
- Do you guys think most of the issues of stuttering/performance have been ironed out, either by firmware update or other versions of the softwares?
- Is audio streaming working flawlessly with Tidal, Deezer and other high quality streaming services?
- Since the Exynos 7270 is a bit outdated now, should I wait for a M6 v2?
- Comparing the M6 with other ´better´ devices from Fiio, I still think the M6 covers most of my needs. What other devices/brands do you guys recommend that offer the same features as the M6 (software installation is a must) that go in the same price range?
I could spend more but only if the differences justify the money spent (not looking for a SP2000)

Thanks!

For me, my M6 is working better than ever at the moment. I stream using Tidal Premium and Amazon Prime. Tidal doesn't play back 100% perfectly all the time, but the stuttering issue does seem to have virtually disappeared. I can even stream and use LDAC bluetooth on the 'best' setting and still get no stuttering.

Amazon Prime is bit slower than Tidal, but generally no play back issues.

However, I still have a slight issues playing from SD card on Fiio Music. I often get a small glitch/stutter at the beginning of a new track, but only when selecting the new track. Just letting it play through is fine.

The main problem I have with this player, is that I've had it for about 18 months now, and only now is it performing reasonably well. The screen has got issues now too, so I would say give this model a skip and wait for something better.
