Hi,

Or you may try try update to this beta firmware(M6:fiio-file.fiio.net/M6-ota-20200403.zip ), then uninstall the emmbeded FiiO Music app, and use the standalone release version and check again:

Click here

Update note:
1. Added grouping tracks by Album Artist category ;(You can select the Artist or Album Artist in the Settings->Artist List Display. This upgrade requires a database update, please scan for music again)
2. Added support for uninstalling the FiiO Music, ES File Manager, Gallery apps (now you can uninstall the embedded FiiO Music and install the standalone release version);
3. Miscellaneous bug fixes.
Have upgraded the firmware and tried again but it still had same issue so I uninstalled the factory music app and installed the stand alone music app. Got to test it briefly and so far so good but will update after I have had time to test properly. Cheers

today i encountered a problem w/ this player:
i've been using it for couple months already, maybe a half year and today i saw that it's got some kind of connection issue.
when i connect it to my pc, it goes DAC mode, or storage (whatever the mode is), and stays like this for ~10 seconds and then reconnects to the usb rapidly, and shows the "charged" or "charging" status after;
i do not really understand what happened here but i've tried it on another pc and the issue stayed - so please help;

Hi, i am also interested in anyone using M6 as a digital transport with USB out? i tried this with the Sony WM1A as the DAC. the M6 seems to output as 48khz for hires files (FLAC 96, 192, etc). please can somebody check and confirm? can anybody get this to output bit perfect to any USB DAC?

This may depend on the external dac and the usb audio drivers used by the music app in m6. For example m6 with topping nx4 dsd dac/amp where the setting of m6 using usb audio exclusive mode manage to output bit-perfect but pairing m6 with topping d10, audio became garbled in exclusive mode but using non-exclusive mode renders output to be 48khz for all bitrate. I have another player Hiby R5 which manage to output bit-perfect to topping d10 via its HibyMusic app. I'm suspecting that this could be due to Fiio Music inability to fully support the majority of external dacs out there. Hopefully Fiio updates its Fiio Music app for M6.

Can anyone recommend a good headphone amp for this? Is the Sony PHA-1A a good model? I’m also trying to see which one of FiiO’s headphone amps would go with the M6 DAP. Any recommendations?

Hi,

So can your M6 be recognized by the computer in storage or DAC mode at that time?

Best regards

I guess i figured out that the problem was in the buffer size inside the FIIO control center.
I disabled the safe mode and lowered it down to 64, while having the quality stay at 96/24 and everything looks ok by now.
That sure is weird because it never happened to me before even tho i've had my DAC settings at 2048 buffer size with safe mode and 192/32 quality enabled.

Thanks for the feedback.
If you have a very large Buffer Size, you may notice a lag. If you have a very small Buffer Size, you will notice little to no lag. However this can also place more strain on your computer, as it has very little time to process the audio.
So you would need to choose a suitable buffer size in order to reduce the lag but not place too much strain on your computer for check.

Best regards

I find Spotify on my M6 doesn't want to use my Micro SD card - anyone else have similar issues?

Hi all,

It's been some time since I've participated on Head-Fi, but I'm thinking about getting a portable DAP like the Fiio M6 to replace my beloved, much-used iPod Classic. I don't care for IEMs, so my primary headphones would likely be Koss Porta-Pros at 60 ohms... and sometimes my Meze 99 Noirs at 32 ohms. Would the M6 be powerful enough to drive these headphones adequately, or would I need a more powerful DAP like the M9? I would prefer to avoid having to use a separate amp if I can. Thanks for any advice!

I have been using the M6 for almost a year and really like the portability. However i think it would be best for you to go for a snappier DAP if your budget permits it. I had the Meze 99C and they played well on these but not to their full potential.
