First impresions

The good first.
- Decent transparency and detail, using the Nuforce Massdrop EDC3 female voices and details are very good, on par or better then the Sony A35,
- Didnt take bass in to account but could drive them quite decently at 25/60 on public transport using comply tips for isolation, Will test with the RHA T20 a bit since they are harder to push but have a stronger bass,

The bad...
- Theres a major bug with the SD card indexing, every time you turn off and turn on the player the library is there, your music is indexed but it fails to find the files until you pull out the card and put it back in,(using a 64GB class 10 Samsung microSD)
- I shuffle my music and enjoy being able to skip tracks on the fly, here i find myself having to pull out the player, unlock the screen and then press the next song botton, i would appriciate being able to skip songs with the hardware controls without having to unlock the player
- Some Flac files are automaticly skipped, not sure why, they are old 16/44.1 which havent had any issue on any play until now, from AGPtek, Sansa or Sony.
- A small nitpick but ... When playing music the song changes quickly after pressing the next song botton (or icon, no phyisical bottons on the front of the screen, all capacitive) but the album art takes 2-3 seconds to change. maybe it dosnt get along with the format i use for the album art.

1, sorry for the Mirco SD card issues, we will release a new firmware fix it in the coming days, so far the beta firmware show this issues has been fixed but we need couple days to have more test.

2, You can long press the volume up/down as next/preview function.

3, Please help us send the files which m3k can't play to myc@fiio.com.cn and thank you very much for your help.

4, will tell our engineer about this.

Thank you,

Will keep an eye out on specific songs to see which ones it dosnt play and try to make a log.

Also as a side request, would like an option in the menu to enable the long press to change song to function even when screen is on, but this has solved one of the major issues i had with it.

I'm really interested in how the interface deals with scrolling through long lists, such as thousands of artists, especially considering the high upper limit for SD card sizes. I've always run into problems with phone apps or other interfaces that don't anticipate more than a couple hundred artists. This is one of the very few devices I've been able to find that would allow >256gb in a single card and am just about ready to grab it but I'm worried if something simple like scrolling might make it a huge pain.

Also, does it organize by file structure or does it try to do something fancy and parses stuff into a library?

OK, gave it a run with my T20´s and will have to listen a but more but the a35 sounds better, while the M3K is clearer and has slightly more sparkle, it has ZERO soundstage and instrument separation non existent,

Its ok for a 70 buck DAP, but i dont really enjoy listening to it, i suspect it might be going back to the store.

@FiiO Since FiiO M3K runs Linux, will there be option to create small text file with list of played tracks (aka scrobbler.log)?
Dear friend,

What text files? There will be a M3Klog folder in the SD card.

Best regards

Due to the recent passing of my 1st gen x1 Ive been looking for a cost friendly replacement, and have taken interest in the m3k(already ordered). I was curious to know if the m3k has an output option for either headphones or an amp as the x1 did, or if not would there be an alternative way to do so. I can't seem to find much info on the dap itself as of today, granted its still very new to market. I was wondering if anyone who already owns one can chime in? Please and thank you

Edit: my amp of choice is the fiio e12a, if that bears any importance.
