Hello,
I’d be grateful if somebody could let me know if the m3k can be used with an external amp and specifically the jds labs c5? If yes which cable should I use...?
Many thanks in advance

Yes, a 3.5mm to 3.5mm both male cables should do just fine for that. I am not sure if C5 is an AMP only, or also a DAC/AMP, situation in which the question becomes more complex. Do you already have either?

Thank you for the kind response. I already have the C5D which is a Dac/Amp... I was using it with an old iPod touch which is broken now but I love the C5D and I want to try out the M3K with it if compatible...would the 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable or would I need something else?
Cheers

I am not sure if M3K supports DAC functions with C5D, in that situation you'd need a microUSB to microUSB cable, and would want to use M3K as a transport (?)

Dear friend,

The M3K doesn't have line out output. But if you would prefer, you could still connect it with your AMP via the audio cable.
If there are local store in your city, you could also have a try first: https://www.fiio.com/wheretobuy

Best regards

So I finally decided on the M3K & it came in yesterday. I've been trying to get to their web site to update to the latest version for the past 2 days but it seems to be dead. Anyone else having this problem or know what's going on?

Do you have any strange router settings, or is your ISP blockin any IP?

www.FiiO.com works fine from here

Also, when you are trying to figure if there's an issue on your end, or with the site itself, you can use this little tool :)

I received M3K, so a few early impressioons :)

- This is amazingly small. Not Shanling M0 small, but really small for a DAP
- You'd imagine that I'd have something to complain about the browsing method, but I met with a friend today, and we played with M3K a little, and it is one of the most intuitive DAPs we ever played with. Actually, this is even better than X5 was
- The build quality is excellent
- The display is large enough for you to browse larger playlists and see whole song names (this was an issue with Shanling M0 and HIDIZS AP80, two other really smol devices)
- Battery life seems fine so far
- Sound is quite good, above other mini-shape devices, at least from my early impressions
- You would never believe that it can sound so powerful, given its smol size
- Comes with a silicone case, nice addition
- I wasn't enthusiastic about it still having microUSB connectors, but FiiO included a nice cable with it, so I don't mind it too much, given this is a smol-sized DAP :)

Looking forward to your review! Especially interested in how sound compares between the Shanling M0/AP80, and maybe briefly the DX120.

So far what i've heard with my V20 (older version of M0/AP80 audio SOC) convinces me that I should either stay with an entry level DAP I like or go for something high end, rather than get something in the mid-range. If you find it great i'll have another entry level DAP to consider

How do you disable the AB functionality? I can't pause normally anymore because it's in AB mode. Can't see anything in the user manual about it.
Dear friend,

It has been mentioned in the 17 page in the user manual.
Here is my understanding of the repeat function, for your reference:
In the System setting, please set the "Multifunction button" to "Repeat" firstly, and go back to the Now playing interface, then the "Repeat" function can be enabled or canceled by pressing the OK button on the left side of the M3K. The Repeat icon will appear beside the volume on the top of the display screen.

For example:

1. When playing the music file and pressing the repeat button the first time in '1:00' for the first time, the M3K will repeating playing the part from'0:00'-'1:00'. The AB icon will show in the status bar.

2. If you press the repeat button the seond time in AB status, the music file will return to normal playing status from the last time(like 1:00) you press the repeat button.

3. You could press the repeat button the third time(like in 2:00) after returning to playing status. Then you will return to AB status again, and the M3K will repeat playing the part from'1:00'-'2:00'.

Best regards

@FiiO can I check if the M3K has official specifications for stereo separation/crosstalk?
Dear friend,

What information would you need? If you have already got the M3K, you could even disassemble it if you like. :L3000:

Best regards

Hi Fiio, do you have the stereo separation/crosstalk measurements? For example, you list the M9 headphone out 1 separation as > 72db.

Thank you!

You have to keep in mind that going M3K -> AP80 -> M0, it goes to being smaller and smaller physically as well :)

I'll do my best to compare those mini entry-level DAPs! :)
