I am not an expert in mp3 players and I have not listened to either one of them. but from what I have heard around here, Clip + has a lot of respect for its sound. plus you can dowload a third party firmware for it for free (rockbox) which gives you EQ options as well as support for many audio codecs. no problem, just make sure that you get good headphones because apparently the stock headphones on the clip is not that great.
if you stick to the stock headphones, they will bottleneck your soud quality, no matter how high quality your music and your player is.
