I mainly want to use it for listening to my music library in foobar and i cant do that too. I dont see mango in playback devices even though i installed it

If your main use is as a pc dac you have possibly bought the wrong device. The DX90 is first and foremost a dap that (with some difficaulty) happens to work as a dac. In my oppinion iBasso should never have mentioned that it would also be a dac but hindsight is always perfect

iBasso should really take care of this. This instabillity is not professional. I am dissappointed.
Does anybody know why i dont get Mango Hifi etc. under sound controllers? This seems to be the problem

Are you using Windows 8.1? USB 3.0? I can't get it to work with this combination whilst it works perfectly fine with Windows 7 and USB 2.0 here.

Any one got a good recommendation for a cable to connect the DX90 to a Hugo?  The stock cable broke

I would agree. I picked up the iBasso D-Zero Mk2 and the sound is excellent. The device is inexpensive, uses two Wolfson 8740 dacs, op amps and the 634 buffers. It is plug and play and again, to my ears, sounds excellent. It also makes a good amp only device. I want the DX90 for playing songs that I place on a micro SD card.

I have seen some guys say here that they are satisfied with how the DX90 can drive their Sennheiser 600/650.

I am thinking if possibly getting my first open back headphone the Sennheiser 598 which has impedance of 50 ohms and sensitivity of 112 dB. They should no doubt be driven to their full potential with the HO alone, correct?

Yes, I would think so. I run HD 600 which are 300 ohms and I believe around 96 dB sensitivity, very satisfied with HO using high gain and a volume setting around 210....any louder would be uncomfortable and the SQ is full and yet detailed. It is abit better amped IMHO nut by no means indaequate straight from the DX90.

DX90 should not break a sweat driving 598.

you might want to experiment with the output levels.  i listen with k812's, which are 30 ohms.  they sounded great on low output.  a long time later, after i learned that hd700's required high output, i decided to try the k812 on medium. they were even better.

Well, I sort of broke my rule a little bit and went ahead and gave my DX90 a little listen at around 110 hours of burn in, listening through my HD800s. I've since put it back on burn in, since

The choice of music was The Red Hot Chilli Peppers "Freaky Styley" at 24/192. Not my first choice, but it was the hi res I had on hand.

No...it cannot driver my HD800s. Haha!

I plugged it all into my desktop amp aaaand...it was a well-rounded sound, maybe even a little muddy, with lots of siblence in certain cymble crashes. I've never experienced this with my desktop rig and my cans.

More burn in?

Did you turn on high gain?  But again, I don't think the DX90 pairs well with the HD800.

Need to setup USB to DAC in DX90 before installing Mango Device in Windows.  If you have an old bios in motherboard, update it.  I had this turn on and off of USB to get the sound.  Once I updated the bios, the problem disappear.  Update all drivers.

So I just got a DX90 to pair up with my Westone 4R. I just wanna ask what gain setting I should set it to? Is low good enough or will putting it to mid be much better? Before upgrading, I mainly used an iPod with no amps so I don't know which gain setting's the best for the W4R. Thanks!

I'd recommend you go with low gain. I have a the W4R too and it gets rather loud above volume 165-170 on low gain. On mid gain it will probably reach the same loudness at around 150-155. I usually listen to it at 160 on low gain. IMO the higher the volume level on the DX90, the less degradation in SQ (at least for IEMs), so I'd recommend you to use low gain :)

Well, I've experimented again with it...just a little, on low gain, but I really had to crank my amp...which isn't a good sign for the amp.

I'm getting a much better sound out of it.

I demoed Neil Young's "Tonight's the Night" and A/B it against my old rig. Yes, I think the DX90 is an upgrade, so I don't think it's about pairing. I chose that song because of it's funky dynamics, and anytime the tape hiss doesn't sound strident, I think you're on to something as a reference sound.

So, basically I'm thinking I just need a very good amp, one that will stay clean and transparent, while leaving the DX90 on low gain.

Really, I'm thinking the DX90 is pretty good kit for converting a digital signal.

I'll just go ahead and let it burn in for about 10 more days after this without touching it and see how it goes. This is fun!
