2) Somebody mentioned that you can easily switch out micro SD cards on the DX90 without turning off the unit.  Is that true

Yes. Doing that all the time, with all my devices (clip+,note2,dx90...) Never any problem. Do you poweroff your pc when unplugging an sd card ?

Does the DX90 power Alpha Dogs / LCD-2 to a reasonable volume/SQ by itself ?

I will be buying my DAP before I get an iBasso PB2 to pair with whichever DAP I buy.

Yes I tried LCD-2 and DX90 can sufficiently drive it at loud enough volume with very good very.

I have the old school LCD 2.1 though which is about the toughest Audeze to drive I think.....but my 'toy' Clipzip powered it OK.

Unless using a home amp I tend to like the DX90 by itself.

Anybody using this with e11k or e12? I'd like to know if it does improve anything. For eg. Nx1 didn't change anything over dx90. It was superior IMO

Sorry that I can't answer your question directly as stated, but I can tell you that I truly enjoy using my FIIO e17 as an amp with my DX90 when driving my Sennheiser HD-650s. The DX90's built-in amp is great and drives everything from in ear monitors, to Apple earbuds, to my Grado SR.-225e headphones beautifully. And while it WILL drive the HD-650 head phones, it isn't a very full sound, and even at full volume on high gain there just isn't enough power coming out of the DX90 to bring out the better sound quality that I know it is capable of. (You should hear them through the SCHIIT audio ASGARD 2 amp....Wow!). When I use the e17 at 60 & high gain, I don't even need to turn the DX90's volume above 220 with EQ, or 212-215 if the EQ is off.

(Better to raise/lower the BASS and treble settings on the FIIO as engaging the EQ on the DX90 drops the overall volume noticeably. Much coarser audio manipulation than a good EQ can do, but if you just want to bring a little more "bass thump" or high end out, it does the trick.)

Enjoy!

Hi all. I love my DX90, but I'm seeing sales on the AK100. Has anyone compared them? Thanks for any feedback.

I have both they aren't even in the same room I consider the DX 90 better.

Hi Jamato8!

Would you mind sharing your thoughts on your Chord Hugo vs what you get from the DX90 as DACs from same-source? (i.e. A PC, MacBook, Laptop, etc..). I don't believe the Hugo was a player, but I could be wrong as I haven't been able to find one stateside to look at here in the NJ area... If it IS a player as well, then by all means, I'd LOVE to hear your impressions of them head-to-head. And yes, I am prepared with the knowledge that you could buy many DX90s for the price of the HUGO, so I'd be satisfied if it were say, 60% of the capability of HUGO....
