The DX340 on the bench tonight again... cannot remember any dap getting so much head time since 2017. Perfect standalone source, but also works amazingly well via LO (even though with variable output).
So I just got my DX340 back from Bloom Audio (after they couldn't find any hissing problems), so far on my new Annihilator 2023 I can't hear too much hiss with the exception of a faint wave-like hissing that slowly jumps from left to right channel like a swing (when I play DSD files from internal storage) but it is faint and not too audible. This seems to have happened when I plugged in the DX340 charger to the wall socket/power conditioner.
I already deleted previous firmware flash and flashed the latest firmware image firehose files. So far I don't really hear the hissing problem I was having before but I'm expecting it to reappear in a few days (like it always does).
Unless by some miracle the transistors have finally broken in and stopped glitching...
I will be nice and post a link to the updated bloat list so people don't have issues with stuff not working. Will be tested on DX180 this weekend and posted on NpAudio forum.
@DAPpower Use a power bank like Anker to charge/battery bypass while you play music. I have had interference issues as well when plugged into AC. Its the crappy grid in this country or bad ground in building etc. You will know when you are in By-Pass since they chose not to have an icon (a mistake) if you unplug and your music stops for a min while it switches back to internal battery - Another bug or by design like the pause you hear when unplug or plug in DC 12V IN. Best advice only charge and play when using power bank. Power off DAP when not using and charge power bank from AC. Buy a good Anker and have a cheap one as backup like one I linked already.
@Shahed Hussain Please post that on NpAudio Forum. Steve there is an expert modder - hardware and software and very good too. Put under 340 hardware mods section.

The Annihilator 2023 has the typical unicorn magic on the DX340, but it does sound a bit bottlenecked by AMP15 running on amp battery. Harder to drive than the Campfire Audio Astrolith, I have crank the volume 10-18 steps higher with the Anni 2023 at HIGH Amp gain and HIGH DAC. On my DX320 I was usually at volume step 42 playing modern FLAC tracks using AMP12EXN-S.
This makes me desire AMP17 and AMP18 much more now, RELEASE them already!
The reason to perform copper mod because E3 high amp gain its was too dry and liric 2 sounded thin. Ibasso cheap out with shield material. AK ultima dap has really great shielded AMP section. With copper mod boy E3 souded like tube amp and liric 2 soundsate exploded with everything became super transparent.
But there is risk. I would only recommend expart to do it. Good thing is that 340 has lots of sapce inside to accommodate extra copper sheet.

How does it sound with super gain now? As far as I am concerned the only way to get best SQ is using it. Did you shield near microSD socket? Did you have any hiss etc before doing this/stock? I have had one of my 340s apart and saw the crap shielding. Are you using an industrial Microsd like Swissbit? Get Cpu-Z app and post temps please.
@DAPpower Why wait? Just send to Steve at Npaudio and he can give you what you want now. He has not heard 340 yet and I have to save up money or sell one of my units to get all the mods I want done.
Yeah, but what about the heat generated from 12V DC in super gain mode on the 340? Amp section doesn’t have any heat dissipation now.. I’d imagine you wouldn’t have to go to super gain (12V DC) if you’re happy in high amp gain.
The sound quality of UAPP reminds me of Mango. I could say in a big generalization that it is clearer, brighter than in the tidal application.
But I also want to clearly emphasize that DX340 is the first DAP from which I willingly and without reservations use tidal, regardless of whether it is offline or online. Very pleasant musical transmission - a bit more analog.
Of course, as always, preferences, headphones, etc.
Although I do not own the DX340 to give you a fair comparison, I find Neutron to sound better than UAPP on my Sony Walkmans(multiple). I find Neutron to have a more calibrated smoother dynamics compared to the more upfront aggressive sounding dynamics of the UAPP which makes the Neutron player more pleasant for long term listening fatigue.
Neutron player has tons of advanced adjustments(like dither, filters, floating point calculations) that can be done to shape the sound even further.
It is paid software like UAPP but there’s a free evaluation period to decide if you like Neutron enough to purchase. Do note neutron is mainly an offline player.
