DX220 Thread for software requests.

1. I am having a similar issue with album art labeled cover.jpg. I tried to resize in photoshop to 800 x 800 and still the Mango OS will not recognize after a rescan. What is the file size limit in Mb?

==I am not sure of the max size for Mb and will have to check.

2. This is not an issue with the Android version of Mango which seems to have more options for display. Is the sound quality much different between the Mango OS and Android Mango?

3. When using the DX220 as a transport with optical out turned on using Chord DAVE DAC, there is a very annoying click sound when navigating through songs. This is not very noticeable on my other DAP (QP1R). There is no click/pop when songs play in album order gapless, only when navigating back and forth using optical out. This is also not noted when moving through songs on the internal DAC?

==We have checked this and it isn't our dac.

4. When in Android powering off gives definite feedback that powering down is occurring but when in the Mango OS, holding down power button just says good by but how do I know battery will not drain?

==The screen shows that it is powering off. A see you screen.

5. Is there a difference when scanning the SD card in Android vs Mango OS?

==There is no difference.

6. Does having WiFi turned in when using Mango OS drain the battery?
==There is no WiFi on Mango OS.
7. Why does the player get so hot with use? My other DAP is never even warm? Is this normal?
==It depends upon where the dap is, if you are playing hi resolution files and the load. The DX220 uses to desktop dac chips, they use more current than many dac chips. The more current the more heat produced.
8. Can the battery stay in charger after fully charged without damage? Trickle charge? Hard to time when charging over night.
==There is no damage with leaving the charger on.
9. One file doesn’t recognize the artist unless I search fir the name, then it comes up.

==I do not understand this question.

So far a great player. Just wish Mango OS had more options than Android version.

Something else to add to the list I discovered last night: in Android mode and under Accessibility/Display size - when set to Small (to get more information displayed on the screen at any given time) then in the MangoPlayer the display listings are cutoff on about the bottom 25% of the screen regardless of which menu option is chosen (All Music, Album, Artist, etc) and both Detail and Directory views have the same shortened view. When switched back to Default the MagoPlayer listings then use the full screen height.

Not a big issue but would be nice to have fixed.

Additionally, will the fix implemented in Android mode regarding using Album Artist property instead of Contributing Artist property be ported over to the Mango mode? Hopefully so.

Thanks,
Tim

If I can be useful and if you're interested, I can do and send you the full translations for Portuguese on Mango Player. I changed language just to check, there are many labels missing translation and some of the ones that are translated are wrong. An easy task for me and done with pleasure

Just to add up.
The MQA bug is happened after u heard MQA song, then next song which is regular flac 16/44.1 seems to be MQA. If the song finish and you rewind to the 16/44.1, it come back to regular flac..

I do not have a clear understanding of what the bug is. MQA has the DX220 and the software and it was validated with them but if an issue we can work on it.

edit: I see the upper khz is not showing correctly.

I'm stuck on the installing system update screen after power off/on. What can I do about that? Was trying to update to the most recent firmware via online.
You can push the Power and Play button at the same time and go into the boot mode. When the DX220 shows on the screen release the butons and go down to Wipe data/factory reset. You can then try again.

That would be helpful to many. Thank you. You can email me at paul@ibasso.com and we could give you a string of the needed translations.

Alright, there's something very weird going on here. It's no secret that Fidelizer Purist ROM is software downloaded to the DX220 that changes sound. Amp8, free version, there is a substantial change in soundstage and separation. It's like depth is reduced but soundstage width is significantly expanded. On the whole separation is improved. Your/the iBasso firmware sounds contracted in width. How is this possible? Can you ask your software engineers to look into how other people's ROM can change aspects of the device's sound positively? I think your firmware sounds somewhat more dynamic and clearer, hence why I'm conflicted, but it's almost shocking to me how seriously the sound can be changed spatially through software alone. Here I was thinking it's just my iems.

If you want to hear extreme changes in sound from software you should try a Cowon device (I have a Plenue P1) with their JetEffects software. Pretty impressive to say the least, however, in the end I preferred my DX90 and now DX220 over the P1 any day of the week - sound is just in another league for my ears. Would it be nice to have some of the features and tuning options beyond straight EQ or PEQ - sure, but that is not part of iBasso products and I have read many times in other product threads about folks begging for PEQ. I imagine that the HiBy MESB does similar things with the sound tailoring it offers.

Just some food for thought.

Cheers,
Tim
