It's actually my media server / workstation. It has an Asus STXII 7.1 hidden away in there. I use it for everything from editing and rendering video in 4K, doing VR flight and car sim, 4K gaming and serving up multiple 4K streams and SACD ISO's around the house from 2 x 30TB Storage arrays. It's also not bad with pron in 3D on the 120" 4K projector system. Yes I maybe a waynekor, but at least I enjoy it. LOL
That is normal , very normal :)

This is how it used to look before it was banished outside because of heat and noise. All my hard work handmaking individually sleeved PSU cables strand by strand for 2 PSUs wasted. It was a 12 month project to get this stage and then I decided it was creating way too much heat and noise. :) Hence it's now outside and the PC components relocated into the 19" rack in the media room where it now stays cool and quiet... So there is some method in the madness.

I also worked on a smaller 2TB battery powered RPi running JRiver MC23 for Pi with an E17K DAC on the other end of the scale. The DX220 replaces that now. :)

Yihaaaa.....

So far so good... No prob...

20190603_142905.jpg
not as refine as AMp1Mk2... Lets burn in then...

edit, Out of the box AMP 8 :
Soundstage not as wide as AMp1Mk2.
lack of dynamic in Low Volume.
Lack resolution in Low.
Only felt Puncy Bass, rumble is messy...

its just like when received DX220 at the beginning again....

edit 2 : 1.5 hour later,
All lack from above a bit resolve, with additional boost in bass... Rumble get layer...
SS is back,
Dynamic is back in low Volume...

I will be scolded again, so be back after 100 hours burn in...

Hi All,

I have the Ibasso DX220 now for a week and so far I do like it a lot, it sounds awesome. The screen is awesome and the DAP responds fast, excellent wifi and GUI. I can only compare to the Opus #2 as this was my previous DAP (I still have it to compare), which is also awesome BTW!

The DX220 has some downsides, for example, the layout, 2.5mm and 3.5mm connector are at the bottom of the dap instead of the top. I do not like this, when carrying in in my pocket I need to put the dap up side down. When controlling the volume with the screen on you can not see the sound level in lock screen mode. It would also be handy to just slide your finger over the screen to higher or lower the volume - as with the opus #2. The interface of the DX220 is much better then the #2.

I have noticed when streaming songs in Tidal the first second of each song is skipped - this is very annoying. Would be great if this can be fixed...Also when stream 192khz songs in Tidal the device stutters and can not handle the stream.

The leather case looks a bit cheap and the colour is not my favorite, black would have been better. Because of the leather case you can not scroll from the top to get the notification screen displayed on android.

It is possible to scroll down by it is a pain.

I have the same issue with Tidal, also downloaded tracks when playing the first track on an album or playlist. The sound issue with high bit rate MQA should be fixed with the newest firmware - but I think Tidal also needs to fix some stuff (I.e. I only get max 88.2 unfold on downloaded MQA files, but streamed is fine). Not sure if the skipped first second issue is an iBasso issue or a Tidal issue...

[/ QUOTE]
Received my modded AMP8 too just now, sadly can't play with it until i get my U12T back from vendor :frowning2: But i still need to buy a 4.4mm cable or connector!

Awaiting you're impressions!!
Congratulations, I'm still waiting for my amp1 mk2 edit also by Fidelizer, delivery scheduled on Thursday, catastrophic DHL delivery services in France.

Ah so you're the guy who got the AMP1 MK2 from him, saw the box pictures and was interested to get the impression.

Thanks and Congratulations to you as well!
