The hiss on AMP9 never bothers me but using any amp module DX220's not good on full can.
Even with the low impedance D9200 it didn't sound too good. I find DX220 to be a portable
dap having good synergy with most of IEMs, not with hard to drive HP. Even the pico amp
couldn't revive the sound but may be WA11, yes.

My exp with elear was prob the same as you.
I was always convinced that elear will be less driven by AMP8EX-FE,
So by pairing to ifi Zen Dac or NX4DSD, will be OK for my taste...
then I did trial for synergy, by changing my cable (Brise) from mmcx to 3.5SE... and Mod my DX220 Body to similar like EX...
the result, I might say DX220 Mod + AMP8EX-FE + Brise > Elear, was great, enough power to drive. and comparable to external Amp pairing...
And this is based on my exp...

I got my iFi shipment today, and the iEMatch *does* tame the AMP9 hiss for my Solaris 2020s. However, I have to set it to Ultra sensitive and crank the volume (on high output) to about 80. I decided to put my AMP8 back on the DX220, along with my beautiful Penon Leo+ cable, and see how it handled the Solaris.

I *do* hear a difference between the tube and the solid state, and the tube sounds slightly more like I’m hearing the music live. That said, and with the caveat that my AMP8 has >100 hours on it, and the AMP9 is still being burned in, I’m not sure that the AMP9 is a keeper. The AMP8 sound is excellent, and I love that I can also competently run my Senns with it. The AMP9 is intriguing, but I’m struggling to say it’s worth $250 over the AMP1mk2, and it’s certainly not worth another $250 if you already have the AMP8. Sigh...my wallet hates this hobby.

Dx200 still has firmwares releases and supported, so will the 220. Only that at this moment, Ibasso is busy for the new releases as priority, such as dx220Max and so on.....

This is the first time DX220 Mod pair to AMP9 & elear, the highlight was quite tight sounding especially in Treble... Nice...

First impressions: exceptional amplifier, in the current situation it lags a bit behind amp 9 (not mod)

So far I'd say yes, it only tames the hiss. I'm still burning in the AMP9 though, so I can't say for sure.

Interesting to see this comment. Does AMP9 has hiss on low impedance IEM ? I am using an AudioSense T800 now with 15.5ohms impedance. I noticed that Solaris is around 16ohms.

I am using a AMP7 and thinking of getting an AMP9. Both from your comment, I am wondering if it is worth it ?
I however, like a mix of live music, vocals, symphony orchestra, 60~70 pops, 80~90 syn pop, and other random new age.Thinking if AMP9 will benefit those music.

All of experiments and experiences would serve up the Max very well !!!!

(notice) Amp8EX is a module for dx220/150/200 and has nothing to do with the Max. The Max is based on Amp8 architecture, so visiting the module to get ready is a good idea

After thirty hours the ampere 8EX burns
I don't know if it's my focus or untrained hearing, I still don't recognize the changes.
What is obvious is that the low frequencies are very present, the medium ones are highlighted on the big stage, the high ones I can't describe because of the very bad cable.
When I merge leo plus ... I'm sure it will be BIG BANG in my skull
