I have a few days ago astell & kern kann and I'm tempted to take ibasso dx220 to compare it with the kann and return what I like least, which will sound better with beyerdinamic amiron?

Definitely, optical is digital, so the decoding is from your external DAC, and in your case it is the TT2. If I recalled correctly, optical out is rated at 24 bits 192khz max, and also support DSD64 by DOP natively

The Amp8EX is being worked on. The Optical out can be used with any amp modules and even without any amp modules attached

you won’t find details about sound impressions from me as I am the tuner and that makes the EX to be my footprints, which I have to abide the rules of the forums, and that is to not talk about my products and it own sound performances. Even though it only apply to producers, and I am not producing anything, but I still hold the rules As is as a Courtesy.

Beside that I am a big DIY fan, and with everything done, the sound will slightly be altered in some way. Therefore, it is better to hear the impressions from others who also applied the EX modification for themselves.
