To all balanced people: please move to the 4.4mm pentaconn jack.
AMP8 is stunning, I don't how to describe my current setup. No words... I cannot sleep anymore ahahahhahaha
I went back to Amp 8 myself. Amp 9 had to much hiss with some of my earphones, sounded great with earphones that didn't hiss.
My amp 1.1 had to go back for service as the 2.5 input got wonky on me. From a sturdiness aspect the 4.4 really wins out as well.
+1Amp request for iBasso:
Amp 10:
Super low noise floor - perfect for sensitive IEM's (Like amp 1.1)
Ouputs - 2.5 balanced, 4.4 balanced, and 3.5 regular headphone jacks
That's it. Nothing else. Just a basic amp module that you can use with pretty much all your sensitive and/or demanding earphones.
Cheers.
I like the idea multiple jack...

The Sennheiser IE800S does not have the swappable cable, but it has 3 terminating cables. I only use the pentaconn 4.4mm jack. What balance cable are you using? The one from Campfire?

Got it. Question though. If you buy something like this will it make a straight cable balanced? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07PHY4XPL?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

No, it will only adapt the jack but you will not take the benefit of the high voltage.Got it. Question though. If you buy something like this will it make a straight cable balanced? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07PHY4XPL?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
I am not expert in electronics but that adapter transforms the balanced into single ended.

Thanks. So if you want to convert over to a balanced cable you would have to buy a balanced cable?

Going SE to Balanced can damage the headphones. You can go Balanced to SE but not the other way around.

Westone ES60.
My spidey sense get triggered every time someone mentions Westone iem
I think I replied to you before about es60/es80 with amp1mk2. I assume, you want the same with amp8 comparison? I can get to it later tonight, and might as well throw in amp9 as a bonus

Thanks man. I actually ordered amp8. Coming today. The ES60 is so good. I never bothered looking for another IEM.

Hello guys!
I noticed that the great function in Neutron "PCM to DSD" is quite stunning!
The bottle neck of the DX220 is the not-so-powerfull CPU, that's why we can only use the DSD64 for the in real time conversion.
Since the conversion from a generic file format (mp3, FLAC, WAV) to DSD64/128/256/512 is macking the difference, I thought why not make a try converting some files to DSD?
Now I am trying the XRecode software.and I am able to use it without external sound card:
https://xrecode.com/
Can you please try as well and let me know what are your impressions?
Thanks!

OK, here we go. Had some fun testing this pair up now
DX220 with the latest fw update, stock amp1mk2 (2.5mm output), amp8 (4.4mm output), amp9 (3.5mm output). Tested DX220 in low/mid/high gain with Westone ES60 CIEMs (46 ohm impedance, 118dB sensitivity). Also, was using DDhifi 2.5mm to 3.5mm and 4.4mm adapters.
ES60 is a rather sensitive CIEM, and with amp1mk2 and amp8 I hear a very faint background waterfall hiss, only noticeable when idling or playing with volume set at 0. It's almost on the same level between these two, maybe a touch more with amp8, but i'm really splitting hairs here.
But, once you switch to amp9 and plug in ES60, the hissing is quite noticeable even at a regular listening volume level. That is expected with sensitive IEMs, even at low output audio setting of amp9.
So, I think you will be good with a stock amp1mk2 and amp8 with your ES60, great pair up actually! But, I don't suggest ES60 with amp9.

Btw, since a few people asked me about this before, after the last DX220 fw update, iBasso added a new setting for AMP9 in System Settings under Audio Setting where you can select Low or High output option, sort of like an extra output boost setting for AMP9. This Audio Setting will only show up when you have AMP9 plugged in. I think some people got confused looking for it while they had other amp modules connected. Once AMP9 is connected, you can go in and change this setting.
