I'm sad to report, even though I love the sound of AMP9, the hiss with my Solaris was just too distracting to me for use with a lot of my quieter music like acoustic guitar so I switched back to my AMP8. AMP9 was great with my MDR-Z1R but with Solaris I just couldn't take the hissing. And I grew up with tapes and my Sony Walkman so I am used to hiss .

It would be great if Ibasso could do something on the software side to address that but I don't know if it is possible?

How's the hiss with just stock DX220 and stock Amp8 + Solaris? Need to replace broken QP2R and still very intrigued by DX200. Thanks.

Good questions, I should have mentioned. With both the stock AMP and AMP8 hiss is minimal, it is totally fine. But with AMP9, the hiss becomes really objectionable with Solaris. I am really sad about it, I love the musicality of AMP9. I wonder if it is possible for iBasso to address the hiss with Solaris. @Paul - iBasso any idea if it is possible to reduce the hiss with AMP9 and Solaris?

I only tried SE. I'm not a big 2.5 fan.

I've almost given up on DX229 as it sounded a little too bloated with 3.5mm SE connection but today I was playing with the parametric EQ
on neutron player and looks like I hit the g-spot! Now sounds much more transparent and defined while maintaining the warm tube characteristics.

You gotta play with it to your liking...This is what works for me with 5 band parametric with surround and dither on.

Yes, DX221mk2 had waterfall hiss with Solaris, but also create micro detail with it..
Consider Unnoticeable when the song played..

When I demoed N6ii, Yes, also Unnoticeable Hiss, the background is darker then My DX221mk2.. but also lack of Micro detail on N6ii...

N6ii has enough details when listening to my Phantom/ Eros II 8 wire and no hiss at all. However, DX220/amp9 has better SQ with no hiss compared to amp1mk2 which has no hiss either.
