Nice delicious pie, cleared some of the mystery especially the RAM and DAC. Look like the screen is not edge to edge. Tiny chin on top and big chin on the bottom. Design wise much cleaner and sleeker than DX200.
Looking at what FiiO did with its lineup where X5 is replaced by M11 with dual AK4493EQs and considerably more powerful SoC, DX220 makes me wonder if DX300 is around the corner. Yes DX2x0 is tweakable but:
- most of the buyers are not HW tweakers, so they will not benefit from this.
- limited editions are sold out before many are aware of their existence.
It doesn't look like DX220 was planned for being the TOTL DAP for next 2 years from iBasso.
Maybe they were forced to make an updated device because they couldn't source the old display or another component any more. That was the reason why Cayin released the N5IIS. They couldn't get the old display any more so they redesigned the player a bit and updated a few of the internal components and all of it with a new display that was smaller but otherwise better (?).
If this is a Sharp IGZO panel it might potentially have a positive or at least not a big negative effect on battery use.
Looks like. Otherwise they would advertise it. Also next upgrade could have been the RK3399 which is 6 core with two quite powerful A72 cores. DX220 seems to have 8 cores which are A53.
the original photo showed a strength indicator reminiscent of a carrier signal strength icon.
It is unclear if this was a small error by the graphic designer, or if it really means the DX220 is an Android phone.
Most folks seem to consider this an error. But none of us will know until the full specs are released.
Having said all that, if any manufacturer released a high-end DAP, with interchangeable Amp modules, that was also a full-fledged smart phone, I imagine they would sell a fair number worldwide, though, it would be difficult to imagine it becoming profitable. Much like the Red Hydrogen One.

Yeah I don't expect or even want a phone. But if it's like a tablet or ipad that can use mobile data, that would be amazing for road trips and long commuting.
