I just took a look: https://github.com/Lurker00/DX220-Firmware-Add-on/blob/master/README.md

I might have a play this weekend. Looks like it's the only way to get Google Play Store and Google Play Services to work. Then I might be able to get YouTube to work as well.

Newbie question: I presume I only need HibyMusic and/or UAPP if I intend to play DSD or HiRes files when using Android OS? This could be useful for Tidal... The Mango OS player seems to work great with DSD files that I've used.

YouTube and YouTube Music work fine once you have Lurker firmware add-on installed. I couldn't get UAPP working but apparently there's a beta version of UAPP that should release soon that will allow full DX220 DAC decode capabilities. Tidal also works fine.

Awesome, also good to know!

I have very little music above 24 BIT / 96 kHZ so this will come in handy for me to know :)

I am still amazed every day by the overal versatility of Roon as an overall platform, and the fact that DX220 runs it smoothly and natively is magic for me :)

You can even use Roon on the road by configuring a VPN server on your core Roon server.

I have been enjoying the DX220 and I feel that sonically it keeps up with my previous SP1000M. However if there is one thing bugging me then its the heat the DX220 generates. I mean it doesn't get scorching hot to touch but it does warm up considerably after playing for 2-3 hours. Despite the heat, the player still works well.

Would the heat issue would be improve in future firmware updates??

Just received my DX220. I was going to install the protectors to the back but it looks like there is already one preinstalled...is this so? If ibasso preinstalled one they didn't do a great job. There seems to be fibers and bubbles on back side.

It comes with a temporary one over the real one that is already installed, front and back.

Based on what I’ve read here, Lurker’a add-on brings the temp down quite a bit. Worth a try? You can always roll back if you don’t like it...

Does anybody have an issue with volume headroom on the low end of the volume spectrum. I'm using the DX220 with my Stage 7 cIEMs and my problem is that with Amp1mk2 I was listening on 18 with low gain. Now having switched back to AMP8 I'm down to 14 and it still seems a bit loud.

On the DX200 I was somewhere in the 20s with the volume level. I think low to mid 20s.

This is both on MangoOS with the latest software version.

Low gain or high gain? If low, you must be a bat!

hehehe... Ignoring that... what i exp is, if playing song from Spotify, Mp3, etc, as long below flac 16 bit, quite cool... but starting 24 bit or MQA, or DSD... now that really heat up...

I just noticed that on the photo of the exciting AMP9 on the first page here, it says 'Bal' next to some fixture on the right hand corner at the front of the image.
My understanding was that due to space limitations, this would be a single-ended only AMP?
Anyone know anything more? Maybe it's the 3.5mm Balanced socket, beloved in China (which I think I've heard can also be used for 3.5mm SE? Again, is that correct?).

I'm just idly wondering as I came across it whilst having fun researching and writing my review of the DX220.
We'll know all the answers soon enough I imagine, but it's fun to speculate sometimes :)
