DUNU - Discussion/Impressions Master Thread

I've been waiting and waiting and waiting...to purchase the Titan S from Amazon USA. Everyday I check to see if it is finally in stock. And every two or three days the availability is pushed out two or three more days. It seems to take months now for Amazon to actually have anything in stock to ship. Very frustrating. FiiO is one of the few manufacturers who keeps a good stock of their products on Amazon. Just about every other manufacturer wants me to order from Amazon and then they will order from China. In my opinion Dunu is loosing a lot of sales by not having product to ship directly from Amazon USA.

Our apologies for the lack of stock for the TITAN S; two weeks before the end of January, we ran out of stock for the TITAN S and were unable to make more because of a lack of raw materials. The problem was compounded by the fact that it coincided with the closure of many factories and facilities in China just prior to the annual lunar new year recess, which is typically around three weeks in length. All of our retailers were unable to receive any stock starting from the third week of January, all the way until this week. We now have a limited number of TITAN S units that we are slowly shipping to retailers around the world. Thus, the lack of stock availability on Amazon would not have been ameliorated if we chose to sell the TITAN S with FBA.

I got to try the Vulkan out at CanJam NYC and all I have to say is wow. I thought version 1 was good, but then I tried version 2 and was truly wow'd I've never heard something do energetic and exciting so well in my life, well not being overly piercing or fatigueing. Safe to say, this one is going to be another winner at the pricepoint for team Dunu and I can't wait own one.

After 200 hrs burn-in, Titan S becomes my favorite iem over Aria and CRA. Its tuning is a good mixture for monitoring and pop. It's vocal is bright, soundstage is so wide, and bass is punchy.

Both the used eartips and the cable are surprising. I cannot get those tips to seal properly. Your cable fits Titan S surprisingly well, though.

It's a 4-core graphene upgrade cable I got it from a local shop, which further enhances the dynamic range of Titan S, bass is quicker. I change the tips to SendaEarFit Short, that gives solid bass.

I had so much fun last night. No, it wasn’t a new romantic sensation, but actually there was a little romance involved! I was answering some questions about the DUNU SA6 IEM and was wondering again what it sounded like. So it was as simple as opening a box near-by and trying it out once more.

This time I was trying to figure out the soundstage. Yet it hit me why this is such a loved IEM, all over again. Honestly, I’m not sure what it was, but the SA6 had me spellbound for quite a while. I was experiencing its charms well into the night!

It wasn’t that it did any one thing super super great, but it didn’t have to. What was special was how it went about the task of parlaying music, just simply enchanting and wonderful! There was the soundstage again, and how it was presented. How it was not giant or small, but just right. Within that space was room for guitars to make their way out, slowly becoming known for just their presence in a natural and accessible way. They were just presented as they were, but there was more; each strum I was again reminded of the tone, how it was. Not a bright or dull tone, but a carefully tuned object, which was harmonically correct. If anything it was the imaging that seemed better than I remember. It was clearer and better defined? The guitars went to their place on the right and to the left, but were an integral and cohesive part of the whole.

This playback was enhanced by the drums. Every once in a while the drum mix would throw embellishments of extra drums out to the right and left. Everything was in a way understated, yet special. Somehow I never noticed just how right everything was?

Next up the bass. And leaving the switches on stock........there was this carefully crafted bass tone. Yet it was completely connected to the drums and guitar........it fell back and had it’s own area in the mix. What was striking was just how warm it was. Also full, as it had a presentation that needed nothing. At the time it was this humble warm introduction of bass that was memorable. Memorable due to being both unique and carefully done. The bass has/had a personality of it’s own, yet didn’t stick out or was overdone?

There was an understated beauty and form. Actually I never had a want or need for more sound. Nothing was wrong or disjointed. It seemed to just work?

While somehow I gained a new level of respect? This replay had more going for it than I remembered? This IEM was actually way better at being an already great IEM.

So I questioned what it could be? Could it be the tips? Could it be my DAPs firmware? Could it be the music that I was playing? Really I’m clueless, yet tonight is round two! The fit is also another thing that is special, being the SA6 is low weight and has nozzles that are just right. Both the diameter of the nozzle and the length is correct. You don’t hardly feel it in your ear. Once it’s placed it disappears.

What ever it was/is.......I’m not even worried I will not find it again tonight! I’m positive I will. Just an amazing IEM on all levels!

Always eloquently put, good sir!

Speaking of the Studio SA6, it is now back in stock, after a loooong parts shortage:
This is what people have been waiting for! The DUW-02S --- is finally here! Link here.

As our most affordable cable featuring our patented, exclusive Q-Lock PLUS quick-switch modular plug system (join the Head-Fi thread here), DUW-02S is priced affordably at $79.99 --- same as its predecessor, the popular DUW-02.

Quality needs not be expensive, as the DUW-02S uses high-purity, 26 AWG, silver-plated OCC copper in Type 1 Litz configuration. The four conductors are handbraided with a handsome, flexible, and durable round Litz braid (the DUW-02 used a twisted braid), making the DUW-02S perhaps the most versatile and usable cable on the planet.

DSC06648.jpg

Available in MMCX or 2-Pin (0.78 mm) variants, the DUW-02S comes standard with a 3.5 mm TRS single-ended plug. Other plugs are sold a la carte.

For the first time ever, customers may choose to bundle in a digital plug (Apple Lightning or USB Type-C) for only $25 more! Our Digital Q-Lock PLUS modular plugs are usually sold separately at up to $36.99!
[At launch, the digital bundle is not yet available]

Get yours today from the DUNU direct shop (link here). The DUW-02S will be sold only as a digital bundle (3.5 mm single-ended plug, plus a digital plug) at third-party retail stores.

After a long parts shortage, our always popular six-balanced armature Studio SA6 is back in stock!

Because it is a fully handmade product, only limited quantities are available at this time.

Our current priority goes towards fulfilling dealer orders, but we have also reserved a small number of units for our direct shop. Link here.

Will Titan S be available in Amazon USA soon or should we just give up and order from Dunu?

There are many products in many categories that do not fulfill products via Amazon in the US. In North America, we have retailers such as Headphones.com that not only stock products locally but also provide the expertise to provide knowledgeable product support to potential customers, with a generous return policy to boot. Stores like these will have the TITAN S available very soon. Of course, if you wish to receive them earlier, you're very welcome to order directly from us, as not all retailers will elect to stock the full array of our far-reaching product portfolio. The DUNU direct shop will always be able to offer items at the earliest possible time, along with personalized customer service that extends across multiple engagement platforms.
