DUNU - Discussion/Impressions Master Thread

I'll probably end up picking up a set sooner or later, honestly. It's more a matter of when I can justify the expense. I semi recently got the LCD-XC so dropping another $900 on an IEM likely isn't the wisest choice.
Just bought an LCD-XC 2021 as well
It's shipped
And so are my pair of OG Zen

As many of you may be aware, a lockdown is in place in the Shenzhen area in order to control an outbreak of the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. We expect restrictions to be loosened next week, but until then, operations at our factory in Dongguan and our sales/distribution offices in Shenzhen are substantially impacted. Please feel free to contact us, as we will continue to provide customer service as best as possible. Open support tickets and orders made within the last few days, however, will be compromised and processing speeds will be significantly slowed. Apologies for the inconvenience.

DUNU It's a good time to go #PRO. Our next generation of in-ears powered by ECLIPSƎ are here! Learn more on our official website. Stay updated on DUNU at their sponsor profile on Head-Fi.

I was disappointed to see that DUNU earbuds projects are on the back burner. These are fantastic! They are also more innovative than many people know. They were put out something like 7 years ago, but the innovation comes in the way of 1 BA and 1 DD (yes you read that right, in an earbud).

Either way these are just trucking along (granted I haven't had them too long yet).

The Zen Pro scales ridiculously. It is absolutely fierce sounding on the CMA Twelve Master
I agree, Zen Pro scales when it meets better sources/cables. Dont get me wrong, Zen Pro isn't hard to drive, in term of volume. But they can sound even more beautiful if you feed them some power.

I listen Zen Pro on Hiby R5 Saber, it's quite good, like really good, with deep punchy bass, clear mid. But when i hook them to my gear (Topping NX4 as dac and 2Stepdance as amp), they change the game immediately. Better resolution, layering, and impactful speedy bass, better imaging, soundstage and extended treble.

Dunu just did a very goodjob on Zen Pro, and now i'm looking for Vulkan

I love the fact that w the stainless steel housing the Zen Pro is basically bullet proof in terms of cosmetics. It should stand the test of time. Also really like that the earphones are small and shaped well enough that they are super super comfortable in the ear. Settled on the Azla tips for now. Sound is very clear and life like w a nice stage w those.

I didn't see too many impressions of the new Vulkan prototypes that were apparently in NYC. Maybe not many people tried them out? Wondering what the bass is like in particular. Thanks!
@Sebastien Chiu got to check them out at Canjam. He might still remember the sound of the prototypes and might be able to throw out some impressions. I personally look forward to hearing the final product.

Tidal connect is f*ckd, whoever the person in charge of the software ought to be sacked ASAP,this software is the laughing stock on multiple forums, its that bad I'm lost for words

I'm gonna cop out and refer to my buddy @twister6 who just posted his in depth coverage of the show with a very nice description of the Vulkan that is on par with what I felt about my listening experince.

Rest assured, it's going to be an excellent competitor to the Blessing 2 (pretty much everything in that 3-500 price range at that) and those who find that signature too "boring" or "clinical"

Super excited about the Vulcan. IIRC the config is 2DD+4BA. Going for that dedicated DD for the mids that other manufacturers have been having some pretty great success with at higher price points.

That driver configuration sounds expensive. So 4BA for treble like some JH IEMs?
