Anyone here have any opinions of the d5000s with the nuuforce hd/hdp? Quickly heard it a while back and loved the bass quantity and impact. Couldn't quickly tell difference in the highs/mids. Or is there a better DAC/amp combo out there for the money? Been a few days without my denons atm, missing them.

You'll probably get a few people saying that it's not a good pairing due to their 10Ohm Output impedance, but I actually like how it sounds out of mine. Still, it's fair to let you know that the HDPs are indeed colored (to my ears, they add a touch of brightness to the sound, highs and upper mids... which is probably why I love it more with my Sennheiser HD600s...)

Anyway, completely listenable for me and I enjoy the pairing, but I usually use the HDPs more with the HD600s.

Just got my pair of D2000's earlier this week, loving them so far. Using a fiio e10 to drive them off my computer right now and loving the improvement in sq and bass over my last pair of ATH A700's.  Would you guys recommend upgrading that DAC at some point or would the sound quality improvements not be worth the cost with these headphones?

I've been using d2k with hdp since march and I'm addicted to the sound esp for EDM. It's gona have even more recessed mids and a super V-shape sound with great sub-bass, bass punch, and slightly shrilly highs, however the soundstage and separation are amazing. It helps to do the dynamat mod

I kind of figured itd have a very big V shape sound signature. Ill still probably stick with the hdp, because it sounded awesome for dubstep. But that means I may need to find some kind of mid forward setup. Maybe try some stratokosters, and get rid of my fiio setup.

Or see how the markl mods affect the sound. Plan on doing it anyways.

Btw bricci I use the fiio e7 and e10 combo, which is hard to say how it sounds because its pretty neutral, imo. However it also is my first real amp/dac so I dont have a whole lot to compare it to.

That's a search of this thread for "nuforce."  Look through there, several opinions.  There's one that mentions the 10 ohm impedance of the NuForce and that's not ideal for the Denons.

The official specs say up to 600 ohms.  It doesn't say anything about 10 ohms, though.

And also, I read a review on the Icon HD's on this site and they said it paired well with the D5000's.

I use my HDP with both my Senns HD-650's and my D5000's and I enjoy it for both. Going to be building a Bottlehead Crack with Speedball soon though for the HD-650's as I want to play with tubes with those cans since so many love the combo.

Have you compared it to a (specified) low ohm amplifier on the D5000's?

What amplifiers do you all use for your Denon's? Please help me out here >.<

Would the NuForce Icon uDAC-2SE or the NF Icon HD Silver go well with the D5000's?

I use a Burson 160ds amp/dac with a pair of d5000 with Lawton audio mod and cups. Sounds great to me. Also using a Little Dot MK111 tube amp which sounds good but not comparable to the Burson .

I don't have $800 dollars to spend on an amp, especially with a $500 pair of headphones.  I think I'm going to go with the NuForce Icon HD's or pair up a Schiit Asgard with HRT MSII.

I think you are pretty set with your amp of choice, but I still suggest you to have a look at Audio-gd offerings and Meier Corda amps, and the O2 maybe

Hi - I've got the D2000 primarily for movies. I think they just sound awesome. However, I'm having some trouble getting the mids/voices to sound more forward for dialogue. Any suggestions on which frequency(s) I should boost to get a more 'dialogue' centric sound?
