I recieved the J$ pads as well in the mail yesterday and only testet the stock pads for an hour or so. The j$ are far better, opens up the soundstage and tightens the bass. + they are more comfortable and keeps the headphones in place. I don.t find the bass boomy or anything like others here have proclaimed. Guess I.m kind of an bass head

I use the ibasso D10 as amp for these and find it more than good enough to power the denons (not that I have tried any other amps).

I have only listened to them for 3-4 hours. Startet with The Postal Service, then The Fountain OST, Four tet - There is love in you, Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles and now I. m listening to Burial - Untrue.

I am very pleased

How much to they benefit from burn in?

Good man! Glad that you like these cans, esp. with the J$ pads. Absolutely essential, I say.

At some point, you may want to Dynamat mod' them as well, to make the 'MD5000'. I am very impressed with my pair. Excellent soundstage and everything - highs, mid's and oh-so-deep lows - seems well-represented. The D10 is indeed powerful enough to handle these. Do try out other opamp-rolling kits, from TopFlight.

Burial is amazing. I am in love with "Untrue". Be sure to also check out "5 Years of Hyperdub" as well as Zomby's "Where Were U in '92?".

just ordered a pair of d2000! can't wait for them to come in.

i have some extra change laying around that i want to put towards an amp. i need a portable amp because i'm a college student living in a tiny apartment and there's just no room. any recommendations? i'll primarily be listening to music off itunes from my macbook pro or ipod. want the amp to be compatible with both laptop and ipod. looking to spend no more than 250.

The iBasso D10 is a fairly good option, now that it can be had for less than $250. Lots of input options on that, and later, if you get a beefier stationary amp, you can still use it solely as a independent DAC.

Anyone else have the hd650 and d5000? I currently have the hd650 and am looking for something with just a little more bass for certain genres of music. I do find the bass on the hd650 perfect for soft and classic rock.

I'm also in the hunt for a portable amp to be used with my desktop and on the go through an iPod. It's to be used with both my re0 (portable) and d2000's (desktop), which are ,imo, different sounding headphones. Is there an amp that would compliment both of these?
I'm willing to go upto $200, DAC isn't necessary but would be a nice addition.

I dont mean to get snappy but, seriously I dont think new posters are reading any of this thread before they post(I apologize if you have).

The only portable amp I have seen get regularly recommended(for the d2000's) is the iBasso D10(just read the top of this page) which can be bought used for around 200 although new is only 250.

Also, just ordered my jmoney pads HOORAY!

What a useless post. Can anyone else tell me if there's more bass in the d5000 than the hd650?

Midoo1990 has both and says the hd650 has more bass than the d5000. Looking for a second opinion before spending more money.

My apologies I had just ran across that thread like 5 minutes ago so my brain assumed you were talking about an amp. I cant provide first hand knowledge on them as I dont own hd650's but from my time here it seems the consensus is the dennon d2k/d5k have the most bass and I can say my d2000's have AWESOME bass.

From my limited experience, the D5000 does have more bass than the HD650. (The MD5000 with J$ pads still has more bass than the HD650, when driven using a WA6.)

Forgive me for being so blunt earlier. The entire thread praises how much bass the d2000/d5000 produces with the exception of one person who happens to have a pair of hd650 as well. Thanks for the links, quite detailed comparisons between the two.
