Like I said, not surprising to hear. I could deff understand someone preferring D2k to D5k.

Honestly, my Wood Cups are dampened with something... not sure what as I'm not opening em up!
But my D2k had Non Dampend wood cups and Dampend drivers and it sounded pretty great with Lawton pads, now my D5k has dampneded everything and Alpha Pads and I dare say it has better mids over the old D2k and... less bass?
The highs and mids, and sometimes even the bass, sounded better with the D5000 cups. Everything sounded more coherent and richer with the wood cups...but every once in a while things also got a little too boomy. I wish I could tone the bass down by just one notch -- things would be perfect then.
Can someone who has Martin's deep chamber cups please send me rough dimensions/ post them here? I would like to try make some cups and love the aesthetics of his products.
Any tips? What would have effects on sound quality? How do I attach it to the headphones such that I don't void their warranty?
Thanks in advance,
Chris
