  Mine have never self adjusted
On another positive note, my d2k got a listen by... a random person.

Was waiting for my car to get repaird in a sears and the women in the room with me noticed them... and ask for a listen.

TUrns out she's got a Minor in music composition and has just started making her own music! So we had a fun chat about music and headphones and gear ect...

while listening to my modded D2k she noted "Whoa I can hear everything" played her some 16bit Modern Jazz Quartet

either way that was a fun... moment! And we exchanged emails so hopefully before long head fi might have a new member! Though it's always nice when people notice my headphones and rather large portable rig, even better when they enjoy what they hear ;3

I also didn't mention the cost! No reason to scare away a potential new member right off the bat

Because we all know what comes next :               THE EMPTY WALLET SYNDROME

Is it worth paying about $550 for a new pair of Denon D2000? They measure very close to HE-500 and have advantage of being closed back and easily driven. I described my tastes in my other thread:

Absolutely not.  That's a ********* move in the first place by whoever's selling it.  They could be once had for 200-300.  For 550 get the HE-500 or new upcoming 400i.  They're closed back but not really closed back.  Think of them as semi-open.

No way.  Are they great and worth keeping as a "collectable"? Probably.  But you can buy them on the for sale boards (used) for $250-300 all the time and even a fully modded one with wood cups, Lawton mods and a new cable can be had for $500.

They are going for that much because they are "brand new". Although Id be worried that they really werent and someone was just claiming they were. However that being said and coming from a D5000 owner, no I would not pay that much for D2000's even new. They simply arent worth that much brand new or with any mods IMO.

I think that one good pair of headphones has its value through times. Agree with the fact that at 550$ one D2000 even brand new is not a right deal. But to me, personally, I prefer my old bad boy D2000 full stock than a new shiny Momentum of Senn which is for sale at about 300 ball on amazon... But everybody know so well that the Momentum has new technology and a quite big range of color available

So try more and more headphones if you could and stay with the one you love. There are people who sale out their Audeze LCD 2 or 3 out there, and they surely have their own reasons.

Yea do NOT pay $500 for a NEW D2k... heck I paid $500 for my D2k with CUstom Cocobolo Wood cups and a D5k Cable.

Non the less they are a good can! I've been enjoying mine rather exclusivly on the go, after ALL THE MODS... they are pretty good for rock to I am finding!

After being out of the headphone world so long I want to say sorry in advance if this question has been asked or if I'm asking in the wrong post. Since I wasn't aware the D2000 were discontinued and probably why couldn't find them anywhere, what alternatives do you guys recommend for in-home use to replace my ATH-M50's?
