i have been listening denon d2000 for 2 weeks and have been loving it more than sennheiser hd600 that i had before and sold to get d2000, but the treble is a bit higher than i like. If i use little dot mk v will it reduce its brightness?or another sugestion of amp for d2000 up to 400usd?

Might just need something to soften/warm the treble. The E7 would be a cheap solution for that. Im treble sensitive and I use the E7 > 3.5 > E9 to warm the neutral sound of my E9.

Got my D2000 a month ago and so far it has been great. I am thinking of getting a DAC/Amp and from my search I limited my choices to the FiiO E7/E9 combo and the Audio GD NFB-12, the sparrow and maybe teh Zero DAC/amp. Can someone tell me which of these is best used with the D2000, or if there are any better choices at this price level? Thanks.

When I owned the D2K's I used the FiiO combo and they worked great together, for $200 you can't go wrong.

I'm looking to buy either the d5000 or d7000, on amazon the d7000 is $5 cheaper??? From what I've read about the differences between the two I think I would enjoy the d5000 much more, they sound like a closed hd650.

What I'm really looking for in this purchase is fantastic bass extension and silky smooth mids.

Heya,

Guess I should throw my keys in the hat for the Denons.

I'm impressed. I actually find myself enjoying the Denon D2000 more than the PRO900 for bass music like Reggae Dub. It just hits those low tones at the same volume as the upper low tones, while still allowing an excellent mid range and some good highs, without being fatiguing or harsh. What a great headphone. Good for portables too. I just drove around with them on my Sansa Fuze and ran some errands and the bass was excellent. Then turn it around and listen to some acoustic and vocals and it did them really well too. Very impressed with the headphone. I'm completely intrigued with higher end Denons now in the future.

Very best,

Does your D2000 in stock form or MarkL? because I remember that the MID got way better and the Bass got tighter with the mod and the J$ pads also improved the Stage. Just a FYI. Enjoy!

My sentiments exactly on the D2K and believe me the D7K are even more of a good thing.

I've only had my Markl modded 2ks for a few days, but I've loved every minute of them. Paired with a JDS lab cmoy, they sound phenomenal. The bass is tight and defined. They sound very balanced and detailed. Amazing headphones. For under $400 they are a great value.

I'm a future D2000 owner, present D1100 owner. I've read very good things about the ibasso D4 mamba with the D2000 and intend to go with that one because it's portable and is a DAC/amp combo. Sells for $200 new.

finally, 2 years later, I understand the "bloated" or "Flabby" bass comments.  It seems everyone that has ever said that was using a horrible amp.  I sold my little dot I+ the other day so I've been running them through my iPod here and there, and let me tell you this, some songs are just unlistenable.  The bass is everywhere.  These cans really do need a decent amp to tame it a bit.

Yea seriously you dont notice it until you actually get a good amp (above the E7) then re-listen months later.

It's the sole reason I get mad when people here say stuff like, "it doesn't need an amp, I can run it off my iPod"

Then Joe Shmoe does so and complains that the headphones sound muddy, bassy, and/or the mids  sound recessed.

D2000 owners (D5000/D7000 also for that matter) if you're not running a good amp/dac combo on this, just give it a try, then you'll finally get it.
