That's how it's supposed to turn out, less (but more controlled sub bass and bass) a lot less mids and a perceived increase in treble.
I don't know what other mods you can do to improve things. you could try gremania mod for the ESW9 onto the denons

So I recently got a D5000 to round out my collection of the higher end Denon cans and it is bone STOCK and could pass for new in every way.

I thought I was going to Lawton mod this immediately but decided to listen to it for a while and first impressions tell me to leave it alone.  Never thought I'd ever consider that but it has no bloat or muddiness out of my Pioneer amps.

I just bought a D5k myself, and my D7k just arrived in the mail today, so I have the full family myself now. Can't wait to get my D5k.

I had a pair of the D5000 way back when.  Very fun sounding huge bass punch.  Lacked some detail resolution compared to my lawton modded D7000.  I think the J$ or angle pads on the D5000 were a step up in every way.  Pulled the bass out a bit.  Can always swap the stocks back on anytime.

I'm still thinking of getting a D7000 even though the modded MD2000 sound fantastic.  Oregonian didn't you sell a sweet pair of modded D5000's a while back?

I did. Was financing another buy.........

The D7000 I feel is worth getting. Mine, Lawton modded and recalled, is as good a sound as I have heard.

Definitely nice to have all that adjustment at the different levels, agreed! Love the pic of your cans and the SX-750 Mike.

According to Lawton's homepage ( they had some d5000 cups for sale 2013 ) the following text are displayed - PLEASE NOTE: The stock Denon woodies will NOT natively fit a D2000! Only our Custom Wood Chambers will natively fit your D2000. We do not install these cups on the D2000, nor do we provide instructions for doing so.

I guess the answer is no. Then again, getting spare cups is probably not a easy task to begin with.

Yeah I saw that. Pity.

Do d5000 and d7000 cups fit on the d2000? And is it even possible to get them from somewhere?

Put up a wanted ad. I've sold D5000 cups before myself and have seen D2000 cups as well.

They fit, you might have to do some drilling though..and get a new set of screws..
