Also gonna add my two cents - Martin does super sexy work. Check out these gorgeous exhibition grade Cocobolo Rosewood Cups that he machined me for my D2000s..

So I got a pair of d2000. Wowwww at the bass. Sounds much more laid back, musical, and less revealing compared to my DT770. Comfort isn't as great (esp with glasses) but its still good.
Can someone compare these to the he-400?
Who has the Fidelio X1? How does it compare to the D2000? Does it do anything better, worth the upgrade?

I've got both. It's a close sound comparison to the D2000. Being open back, they still have great bass while the Denons bass is godlike. I wouldn't consider the X1 an upgrade. More almost an equal.

Open vs closed don't compare to well
But yea, the D2k has some AWESOME bass, I like it much better than the HE 400 I had, the HE 4... is about 95% as awesome as the D2k though... it lacks the light smidge of resonnance the D2k has, but my D2k like many here has been modded to hell and back.
Is there anything the X1 does better? Basically since I bought the D2000 I find they do everything better than the DT 770 except comfort... those velour pads are unbeatable. The X1 looks like the best of both worlds + added soundstage from it being an open design.
I'm getting rid of my Alpha Pads. I haven't been using them so I'm selling them to fund another purchase.

I've been contemplating to get HD650 to replace the D2000 but as you guys said, the bass on D2000 is just addictive. Does anyone has the thought between HD650 compare to D2000?
