Mines are stuck to an Audio-gd NFB29 and it's incredible the sound they come out with this amp/dac. More refined than my other closed cans, the Fostex TH610s.

For the first point:

-Luxury pads, have a look at the Lawtons ones. Around 100$.
-More economic: There are some chinese ones in Ebay made of leatherette.

Cheers.

I'm with Casper on the recommendation of the Lawton angle pads - I've tried about a dozen different pads on my Denon's the past few years and prefer the Lawton's to all others.

Agreed, I have both the AH-D7k and AH-D2k, I transferred the original earpads on the D7k to my D2k. Bought a pair of Lawton Angle pads for the D7k and couldn't be happier, I dare say it's more comfy than the original D7k pads. Also had my D7k modded with HiFiMan SMC sockets since I'd wanted to play around with cables, and since I have two HFM cans with SMC sockets, I figured I could get a 4pin Balanced XLR cable and share it among them. Picture below is that of my can, with its original cable done with SMC plugs.

Anyone happen to be interested in a D7000? I haven't used my pair in awhile (I'm a pretty monogamous headphone user) and was thinking about throwing it up on the classifieds soon.

Just to let you know that I've put my Denon AH-D7000s for sale on the classifieds. Should anyone be interested, shoot me a PM.

I've always been curious to try a 7000, but to be honest, I much prefer the look of my D2000 black plastic cups! Also since they're not as expensive, I'm less nervous about leaving them hanging on the stand at my desk at work overnight.

I own both the D2000 and the 7000 - both fully Lawton modded and with custom wood cups - and the sound is close enough to equal for me. The LA7000 is a bit stronger in the bass primarily due to the cups I have on there (Teak from SE Asia) are deeper than stock and the bass is glorious but I listen to the 2000's a LOT.

I own almost the whole family... Maybe D7000 joins to the gang some day. :p
