Creative Aurvana Live! 2

It seem that CAL 2 uses the same Foster 33917 driver (http://www.head-fi.org/t/694472/lightbox/post/10052487/id/991973) as used in original CAL.

So I don't see a point of paying almost double the price for CAL2.

the driver is the same...so ? the driver is not the sole determining factor when it comes to sound, Look at Audio Technica's. A700x has the same driver as the A900x, but does that mean they sound the same ? read the reviews....also check HD558 vs HD598, same driver, different cup design == different sound....

Cals are a budget can they are £50 for cal 1 here and £63 for cal 2

I'd get m audio q40 over them though for the same price much better build quality has metal in all the right places

no idea how that guy gave panasonic htf600's 7 for build quality that should be 1 they are the worst build quality ive ever owned and ive owned some cheap headphones down the years
those things may aswell be held together by glue

I have CAL, CAL2 and Q40. I find CAL2 better than CAL in every way. CAL2 cannot beat Q40 in terms of bass quantity but it holds up quite well on its own when bass is called for. Q40 is uncomfortable and the cable is a
disaster.

Would anyone recommend these for gaming?

Also, I'd be using them on my PC so what would I need to make the mic work? As I know this is a single 2.5mm jack.

Thanks in advance,

I just ordered the 3rd party HD598 ugprade cable. Will post my thoughts when it arrives. (China to Europe, could take a while...sigh:/ )

I think that headphone connector is a bit too long and may place unwanted strain on the headphone's jack inside of the cup.
This one would have been better as it is essentially the same thing but with a shorter-bodied headphone connector.

You could also reinforce the connector in the cup with some high-temp hot glue if need be.

You should've posted that link earlier, a little too late now :)) But thanks, that could be my replacement cable if the new one is too long like you said.

Anyway, let's see how it goes. I'll post my thoughts when it arrives

These are confirmed to use the same driver?  If so, these may be the headphones I've been looking for - I've been looking for a Creative Aurvana Live! with better build quality than the original.

Does Head-Fi have recommendations for 2.5mm to 3.5mm cables?  I've heard that the CAL!2s have a mediocre cable out-of-the-box.

Has anyone tried the Fiio replacement cable and the ebay cable listed in this thread?
