From what I read on this document, it seems like a audio processing module that does more than just DAC.
It also can do signal processing (equalizer and stuff) , the DAC part and even a direct analog output for headphones:rolleyes:
But it's main job seems to be digital audio processing, cowon could have implemented the amplification part elsewhere in the circuit. IDK
Looks like the D indeed uses a wolfson, glad I placed the order and regret not paying 10 bucks more for express courier delivery

The pcb tracks from the wm chip go directly to the hphone jack. I may open again and see if I can trace to anywhere else. I must say the build quality is good - a very 'solid' construction.

Just received mine. This little thing looks so pretty!

At first the sound was not impressive at all, but then I turn on BBE,

that is how it should sound like. The wolfson signature that I love!
This is my first cowon device, and the equalizer is so much fun.
Everything reminds me of my old samsung p3 player back in the days,
all metal construction, the slightly tricky capacitive screen, wolfson chip, good equalizer (and cowon is even better on this part)
I love that player very much and I will be the same on this D

So I am a bit confused, can you use an amp/dac with the Cowon Plenue D or not?
