I can't tell a difference.
Has anybody received the new casing yet?
Folks, when using digital vol bypass mode, what color of the vol dial will send standard 2.1vrms?
Thanks!
you cant bypass the volume , i have try so many times , it just set your internal volume to blue or white but still you can control the volume in the knob
This may be slightly off topic. I have been experimenting between using iDevice CCK (or Lightning to USB) vs. Wadia. The Wadia sounds significantly better. Is there a reason for it? Don't have much experience with using CCK or the Apple Lightning to USB until recently.
Doesn't the CCK/Lightning to USB give you a digital signal that skips the DAC and AMP on your iDevice? Just trying to understand why there would be such a difference.
Has anyone compared Hugo to the ASUS Xonar Essence III ? This new DAC is getting good press/reviews...
Essence III is not the most transparent DAC one can find at this price level. M2Tech Young, Burson Conductor or Chord QuteHD give more sound information, especially in the high frequency area, ASUS’ DAC being a bit scarce when it comes to absolute resolution.
I have a friend that wrote a review on Essence III. While he said it was a good unit, he wasn't so impressed with it as with Hugo. Personally, I have the feeling Hugo is much better.
Conductor is no match for hugo. Even Qute-Ex(new version of QuteHD) is quite behind Hugo.

Dan, any further comments for Hugo as a DAC vs other desktop DAC? I'm not going to use it as a transportable/portable device but is getting more and more interested in getting it for desktop use....
