Poly should automatically update , when connected to your network. Do you have a SD card inserted? You have to take out the SD card to update...maybe after updating your problems are solved.

Cheers

Nope. No sd card inserted. Also, I left it connected to network all morning, with no sign of an automatic update. How long do I need to leave it connected, with no apparent signs of downloading any updates? Shouldn't there be some indication of this occurring?

Poly has had a fair chance to download the file. I think switch the Poly off and leave until the P status light goes out. Then switch back on, and watch the lights - cycling of colours indicates installing the update. That's the theory anyway. I tried to update mine following the instructions on two occasions, and saw no flashing lights, but when I next switched on the Poly had updated automatically, and everything was fine afterwards.
Poly has her quirks until you have managed to update to v2.0 firmware, but everything becomes easier after that, because you can trigger updates using GoFigure.

If I remember right, there are no flashing lights for fw updating back on 1.0.26. I think the flashing lights were introduced at 2.0.0. Neither can you use Gofigure to update the fw at 1.0.26. That was introduced at 1.0.43. If you have a WiFi connection, the P-status light should be solid. Leave on-charge and switched on for 20 minutes. Switch off and on and check the fw version. You should now be on 1.0.43. You should now be able to update to 2.0.x using Gofgure.

Edit - I think the flashing lights were also introduced at 1.0.43, not 2.0.0.

Ok. At last. After messing about all morning it has allowed me to go through the update firmware procedure, which I did (following instructions to the letter), and for which all the lights flashed, according to faq section on updating firmware.

Now I cant even login to the bloody thing, using goconfigure. It keeps telling me the bluetooth PIN does not match that of the device. At no point have I touched the bluetooth PIN, let alone reset it from the original 0000 (which worked, previously). I've tried 0000 and 1234, without luck.

So, having gone through no end of palava, just to update the firmware, I've managed to go from being able to access bluetooth only, to not being able to access anything at all.

Is this device for real? It shouldn't be this difficult, surely? Anyone have any ideas to rectify the bluetooth PIN problem? Evidently I cant even factory reset it, (ie, to set a new bluetooth PIN) without somehow knowing the bluetooth PIN it has apparently already decided to set itself, at random.

Cant even return the bloody thing, as the shop I bought it from seems to want a charge a substantial restocking fee.

Oh, and just to top my frustration off, my phone is telling me that it has successfully paired with the poly via bluetooth, and can apparently play music through it, at precisely the same time that gofigure is telling me I dont have the correct bluetooth PIN, nor giving me access to any of the poly's settings, because of this.

So my mistake. It's still got bluetooth access. Just nothing, through gofigure, not even access to the settings pages (which at least I had before the firmware update, assuming this was successful, as there is no way to tell without gofigure working).

Mine does this stupid PIN thing on my second phone, on the latest app version but it works on my other one, same PIN of course. On my first phone the Android is too old to update the app, that's what it says.
Is it the latest version of the app the PIN problem? Cos it sure looks like it is too me

I'm presuming so, given the problem occurred immediately after I was (eventually) able to update the firmware. However I can't check latest app version, as i need to be able to access settings to do this.

So is this a recognized problem with the gofigure app? Is there a workaround? I cant configure the poly for wifi/streaming playback without being able to access its settings...and I refuse to keep it as a bluetooth only device. I dont have another phone to try.

I'm hardly an expert for wireless streaming devices, but if I can work out how to configure roon through the sonore microrendu network "issues", and if this thing seems 100x worse by way of ease of use, I'm thinking there must be a major problem with it. It's like the gofigure app has been coded by chimpanzees...

I read just recently, to update the Poly to Firmware 2.0, you have to connect Poly to wifi. Is it not possible to update any other way. I actually use wired internet. My router does have wifi, but I never use it.

Of course I could temporarily turn the router wifi on, to update Poly.

(Not bought a Poly yet - just exploring.)

Ok. I'm continuing to make headway, but battling all the way. Clearing the phone's bluetooth cache, uninstalling gofigure, and unpairing poly, then reinstalling everything from scratch seemed to resolve the random PIN reset problem, for anyone else struggling with it. Turns out it had only updated firmware to 2.0.0. Then it needed three more firmware updates to get it up to latest version.

Now it's working on wifi! But only for internet radio, and only partially: gofigure wont let me add (or listen to) any new radio station urls. Anyone know how to do this, as nothing happens when I click the "add station" button, after entering correct url and station name...

I cant get tidal working, either. The user manual says:

"poly has full tidal and spotify integration meaning that when poly is connected to your local network, or smartphone's network, poly will be seen as an audio output and it will be selectable".

Does anyone know what this actually means? To my knowledge, Android phones dont allow selectable outputs, except (eg) by selecting bluetooth pairing...so I have no way of playing Tidal, despite entering my username and password through gofigure settings (although nothing happens when I press the 'save' button, either). I only have "launch internet radio" and "launch quickplay" options through gofigure. Manual also says "Other" network mode needs to be selected (I am assuming that this just means "not roon" mode?).

Does anyone have a recommendation of a media player, which can connect through wifi with the poly, and which allows direct playing of tidal, internet radio, (aswell as sd card media), and which isnt gofigure, because I've had it with this waste of time app, frankly....I cant actually believe how terrible it is, given how much Chord charge for the poly.

Thanks in advance, for ANY advice you can give me, which would allow me to leave this &*@!#&*! app behind me, forever....

Hi @Yourmomm
Apologies I wasn't available last night to jump on here and give you a hand with the setup. Honestly I'm pretty upset that it would appear your dealer has given you no support at all and if you would like to PM me who the dealer is I will follow up. As you have found to your frustration the majority of your issues are because your Poly was on an older firmware version. There have been major changes and advances made in V2.0 firmware and now the latest version is V2.0.4.

The connection between the Gofigure app and Poly is via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) ( not to be confused with Bluetooth Audio which is a separate connection ). BLE uses an encrypted connection to stop anyone from accessing your device. When you update the firmware on Poly occasionally the encryption between the phone and Poly becomes corrupted so you need to delete the Bluetooth connection and allow Poly to renew the Bluetooth connection to your phone. This will then solve the incorrect PIN issue. It's not normally necessary to delete Gofigure and reinstall.
As for a good media player then members on here will give you their recommendations. I personally use MConnect now which covers most things and includes Tidal and Qobuz support.
For SD card playback only using Android then MALP is very good.

If you have any other questions or need further help ( and this applies to everyone on here ) please email support@chordelectronics.co.uk where my team will be happy to help.

Can you try deleting the Bluetooth connection on your phone and then allowing Gofigure on that phone to reinitiate the connection.
Gofigure for Android requires Android 7.1 and above. There has been an issue with Android 7.1 but yesterday I released another update (V48) that will hopefully fix that.
Please give it a go to see if your older phone can update now.

Hi @GreenBow
Poly is a WiFi enabled device and really to get full use out of it you need to have a WiFi router. Yes you can use Poly's own hotspot for playback ,or a hotspot on your phone, or use playlist playback directly using Gofigure but on the whole I would still recommend some sort of WiFi connection in your home to give you optimum use. In any case yes you are correct Poly can only update over the internet via WiFi so you would need to enable WiFi on your router so it could do that.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Matt. Got Tidal up and running in about 5 seconds on the poly using mconnect, which is how it should be. Sounds sweet, too.

So now I can get everything on my home wifi network, working, I thought I would try setting it up for on the road...needless to say, this has not gone well. Trying to follow instructions to set up poly connecting to my phone's wifi hotspot, booting gofigure into hotspot mode, but then there is nowhere I can find in gofigure settings to actually enter my phone's SSID, and password...can you advise?

Finally, I'm assuming that the only android device way to listen to internet radio or online tidal content whilst on the road is via bluetooth?

Thanks again

I would only use Poly as an SD-card player. (It's a shame Chord didn't make an SD-card player module by itself. They were planning to make many individual modules, to do different jobs with Mojo, like SD-card, BT. Then instead they went all out on the Poly instead. It means folk like me have to pay for all that tech we will never use.)

I suspected I would have to enable wifi on my router temporarily to update Poly, which is what I asked.

Gofigure shouldn't be in hotspot mode if you want to use the hotspot on your phone to connect to Poly. If you set Gofigure to hotspot mode it switches Poly over to becoming it's own router so other devices can connect to it ( like your phone ). The disadvantage of this is that on Android devices you will have no cellular internet access via 3G/4G (there is a work around for iPhones so you can keep your internet access at the same time).
So what you need to do is go into Gofigure and turn off hotspot mode. Then on your phone make sure that your mobile internet and hotspot mode are on.
Go back to Gofigure and on the settings page click the WiFi settings which will open a page showing all your current WiFi connections. At the bottom of the page will be new WiFi networks you can connect to. One of these should be your phone. Connect to this and enter the password.
That should then be it. You should now be connected to the WiFi from your phone. You can continue to use MConnect to play from Tidal or from the SD card inside Poly. Internet radio will work from the Gofigure but use the internet provided by your phone.

If you reach out to our support they can send over further details if you need them.
