I’m absolutely not trying to troll in the slightest but I follow this thread closely as someone who proudly owns a Mojo and wants a poly so bad. I just can’t believe a product was released that has this many issues. I know some people aren’t having any issues and love their poly. I want a (functional) poly SO bad but am nowhere near confident in buying one. There shouldn’t be so much reliance on the consumer to troubleshoot so many elements of a product so that it works as advertised. I really hope Chord is working 24/7 on getting this thing to work flawlessly. I can’t imagine how painful it is for owners who aren’t on this forum and have this resource to fix their issues. Maybe Chord assumed that a majority of users are on head-fi and would simply be able to troubleshoot as needed and by voicing their issues here Chord could make fixes on the fly to a clearly unfinished product. Ugh, I don’t even own one and I’m so frustrated :frowning2: Sorry just had to vent.

As many top reviewers pointed out - Poly set up is not an easy one. It definitely requires planning your music layout and features that would work best for you. Still after you familiarize yourself with everything and start utilizing it - it is just such a musical bliss. One device you can take anywhere - home - office - car - anywhere outside. I have finally managed to utilize QuickPlay MPD playlists playing straight off the SD card and it oozes musical purity and detail. Glider works well too.
I am coming from a setup that would involve setting up a laptop with Curious USB cable to my Fiio x5 2nd into everything else. Even had this whole mess running in my car for awhile to obviously reach those high quality music levels. Still Poly allows to cut cords and it feels almost surreal that all you gotta do is to turn it on and have your phone connect to it, launch your fav music app and voila.
Simply groundbreaking and off course not without its issues.

A lot happier now with the Poly after some time with the GoFigure App. (iPad/Tidal HiFi - Airplay - Hotspot mode)But one thing I am finding is that after a full charge on Poly (confirmed with battery on GoFigure app) I find that the Poly battery seems to "drain battery" after a number of days when off. Yes, confirmed Poly is actually shutting down. Confirmed as light goes off AND BT will no longer find it. Is this just me??? this is my 2nd Poly and is ~ Serial Number 6000. Just seems strange. @Matt Bartlett any thoughts? Anyone else seen this. BTW - using the Mojo/Poly with the new @KB Campfire Audio Comet Atlas.... sounding really good!

Awesome to hear you’ve found musical bliss! I’m assuming the sound quality you’ve achieved is on behalf of the Mojo? Does Poly improve the sound more than what Mojo already provides? I assumed Poly was simply (or not so simply) adding functionality to Mojo.

Also, since MojoPoly needs to be tethered to a phone and therefore “stacked,” how does it differ so much from other dap offerings? I’ll follow that question by stating I’m a Roon/Tidal user so it’s ability to be a Roon access point is awesome. Just wondering how else it might differ from say using a DX200 aside from sound characteristic?

I’m in the market for a dap which is why I’m asking. I’m sick of having Mojo wired to my phone.

I agree, after just jumping into the water myself with Mojo+Poly. I did spend some time reading these boards to learn which apps work well, etc.

But I will say that I haven’t experienced even a fraction of all of the issues I’ve read about here. That’s because with the latest FW + GoFigure on iOS and Glider, and using an SD card, a lot of issues have either been addressed, worked around or can be avoided.

If you’re on Android, this ease of use should soon be available...

My guess is that within a year or two Chord takes everything they’ve learned from mojopoly, adds a screen/on-board interface and comes out with the DAP of all DAPs. It will come at a premium price but will marry the best sound quality and functionality on the market. I’d buy it in a second. I don’t want to rely on my phone anymore to listen to music on the go, but haven’t found a dap that sounds as good as Mojo that I can steam music with.

I doubt it really. The entire point of them removing "screen interface" results in a very low noise floor. It is rather a feature than a shortcoming. No more firmware updates or Android OS updates or fixes for any of those interfaces. Literally just about anyone could simply connect to its hotspot and start streaming any content through Airplay.
It allows you to use a plethora of interfaces of your choice. Don't know how Poly+Mojo differs vs just Mojo by itself sound wise, but I would argue that by removing all the cords that may introduce RF noise and what not it comes out even superior that way.
On the other hand just simply swiping on my iphone's lock screen back and forth is the most streamlined controls interface possible I think, while mojo-poly sits in my pocket with headphones plugged in.

I hear ya but realistically I would be using mojopoly when i'm outside of the house and thus not necessarily in ideal listening environments where critical listening would reveal a higher than perfect noise floor. Point is, I'd take the trade-off of having a screen interface any day. I get that there will always be two camps, those who don't need it and those who do. I just think the latter may be more prevalent and certainly makes it more versatile.

I am in this for the best sound. If we want to make trade-offs, especially for the majority of listening experiences (like by using BT or having the convenience of an all-in-one dap/dac/amp), then I would be the first to look for other products that offer that, rather than suggest that a product that is already better should be redesigned to be made not as good in some respect (especially if it's SQ).

Yes, this happens to me too. I absolutely cannot match the mojo battery time with the poly even though the poly is advertised at 9 hours and the mojo at 8. I dont doubt if I used it straight thought it would match, but thats unrealistic. My observations right now seem to be telling me that the poly drops at least one battery level indicator a week when powered off. So potentially up to 25% a week.

I contacted Mitch at chord about this and he was concerned that the drain seemed too high and recommended I get a replacement, which I did. The replacement exhibits the exact same behavior. The last email I got from Mitch at chord said that the mojo and poly may represent their battery lives differently, so its possible that accounts for it bit, but he also said that there is a microprocessor in the poly that is always running. To me it sounds like its probably because the poly has to always be "listening" for the mojo to power on for it to power on itself... I guess.

Either way, it seems like this is just the way it is... I dont know, maybe poor design choice trying to make it as seamlessly integrated as possible. For an accessory though that costs more than the mojo and doesnt even last as long... just disappointing. Seems like chord really tried to do something innovative, but so far it just feels like there have been a lot of trade offs to get there and to have it feel integrated with the mojo.

I hear that, and I generally tend to agree and am in this for the best sound quality i can get as well. I've spared no expense with my at home rig. I guess I just find it a little hard to believe that incorporating a screen would really ruin the sound quality that much. Maybe I'm dead wrong on that and if it would really cause that much harm then no way would I want a screen incorporated - what the mojo currently accomplishes is a beautiful thing. For some reason it just kinda feels like an excuse for not having a screen though. I'm sure adding a screen would cost a ton more for them and us and provide them with even more headaches to face regarding the screen interface, software compatibility etc.

Think of it like a GPS in a car. By the time the car comes out, the GPS is already 2-3 yrs old and no longer cutting edge. Another 3-4 yrs later and it’s a relic.

The Mojo amp and Poly device with unlimited SD capacity are as future proofed as possible, and then are separated from the screen (UI app) which has a much shorter obsolescence curve.

This is a wise design approach and though new it is only going to get better!
