Additionally you can use something like bubbleupnp or hifi cast as well to stream via dlna instead of playback using mpd. Both apps should work on any android phone. One of the issues right now with MPD is that for some reason the poly does not index mp3 files, so in order to play them back you have to browse to the files and add them to a playlist (i think everything with mpd is via playlists). DLNA indexes things fine, but will actually stream I think back and forth over the network. Its not necessarily a bad thing, but its 100% reliant on the connection to your phone, while MPD you can just set it to start playing and it should keep going even if you disconnect for some reason. The only other issue with DLNA is that on the poly its not gapless.

Hopefully they are working to make dlna gapless, add mp3 indexing, and hopefully the gofigure app will be out soon. I believe chord said it would release 6 weeks after the iOS version released, which if I am not mistaken would mean that this coming Sunday would be the release date. Given how long it was delayed on iOS I am not holding my breath, and it would actually shock me if it released when they said. Still hoping though, and at the very least am hoping it releases before I go on vacation towards the beginning of June.

You use the Mojo/Poly to play mp3s? :astonished:

Hope you mind me butting in, had M.A.L.P for a while then took it off. Just couldn't, with my lack of knowledge about most things network, get it to work.
If you could guide me I'd appreciate it, or link to a vid, couldn't find one. I have a Galaxy S8, simple Plusnet fttp router. Cheers!
Hey there!

Make sure S8 and Poly are on same network, ie your home WiFi.

Find out and make a note of your Poly's IP address using eg Fing .
(NB: If you can tell your Plusnet router to assign a fixed IP to Poly (which is what I've done) it'll make life easier!)

Open MALP and create a new profile.
(Name the profile whatever you want. I have 2 - named "Poly Home" and "Poly Mobile"_

Put in Poly's IP address.
(When at home my router assigns Poly a fixed IP. Out and about my phone (using its own hotspot) assigns it a different (fixed) one. Then its a simple matter to switch between the 2 profiles depending on usage).

Port 6600 is the standard comms port that MALP uses to communicate to Poly. Leave it as is. No password.

Enable streaming? Nope

Enable prefer http cover files? Nope

Save the profile - MALP should now connect and display Music Library of SD files.
(Unfortunately right now there is a bug so it won't display MP3 or DSD files in the library. They will play fine but you'll have to navigate to them using File browsing in MALP.)

Hope that helps.

I managed to play music via SD card by using QP then can turn off all wifi and BT on my Iphone and the music still continue playing. Still can't find a way to do this on Android, any advice? Thanks.
There is no way to do this glitch-free currently with Android as there's currently no Android GoFigure / QuickPlay.
Android release is (supposed to be) imminent though. According to Chord's previous pronouncements it should be due in a few days.......

It's a feature of GoFigure - allows you to control the playback of MPD playlists using just Bluetooth - turns Poly's WiFi off entirely. It's the one feature I've been waiting for all these months!

Lol! That should tell you how much I've used my Poly/GoFigure of late. #embarrassed

Great stuff thank you very much.
Running fine dlna, playing dsd 2.8 & 5.6 it seems. Chuffed, I can ditch others now.
Just have to set up mobile.
I presume, pop poly in hotspot and pop in phone hotspot name and pass on Poly page? Or no pass until gofigure android app is released?
Just one more if I may, how do I fix IP add in Android, Galaxy S8 running Oreo?
Fixed it in home router no problem.

Fing is a useful tool, thanks.

I put the phone (Note 8) into tethering/hotspot mode - not Poly. On the Note 8 I can assign Poly a fixed IP - I bet you can do the same with your S8.

Just be aware that going thru Airplay also has the disadvantage that there is a faint hum that somehow comes from Poly being connected to Mojo. That hum is not there when connected via USB.

If you can confirm from Tidal users that you can listen to downloads on your phone via MPD by simply inserting an SD card, this will sound even better than thru Airplay.

This hum noise is pretty faint and is more noticeable when you turn up the Mojo’s volume to higher levels. However, it is worth mentioning in case you notice it later.

I've been doing some testing with this and I noticed that it disappears if I increase the source volume (iPhone X in my case) to 100%. Can you try the same and see if that helps?
I plan on putting together a matrix of: file source, application source (glider, spotify, jriver, etc.), network configuration (local, phone hotspot, poly hotspot), transmission method, whether there's an SD card inserted or not
I'll then list any issues I have. It might take a little while but if it'd be useful and people are interested, I can share it.

Yes, what happens is sort of an inverse thing: the higher you turn up your iPhone volume, the lower you can drop your Mojo volume. It's the Mojo volume on Airplay that brings in the background hum, and the lower the Mojo's volume, the lower the hum. Airplay is still very listenable, but from MPD/SD card, the SQ is noticeably cleaner w/ a totally "black background".

I would definitely be interested in this matrix, and it may help the developers? So far I've found the below configuration works very well for me (and reaches an audiophile/hi-fi standard for SQ):
File Source: Poly SD card (or uploaded to iPhone via File Share in iTunes)
App Source: Glider
Network Config: Local Network, Phone Hotspot, Poly Hotspot
Transmit Method: Poly Device (MPD); also works with Airplay but with "faint hum"
SD Card Inserted: Yes

For convenience and battery savings, Bluetooth and/or Airplay can also be used but a lower SQ, so I haven't experimented as much. As discussed, Airplay "hum" can be almost completely mitigated by minimizing Mojo volume (ie, maximizing iPhone volume).

For new users (and potential new users), the optimal or vetted configurations that this matrix would clarify would help save a lot of time and make the water warmer to jump into! :-) These would evolve over time as more bugs are fixed with future firmware releases.

Also, I forgot to mention: Bit Perfect mode. I have tried to see when/how this works, hoping to resolve the Airplay hum issue. I think it only works in MPD, possibly DLNA, mode (and maybe only with hi-res files?). With the same config, this seems to behave differently with different source material.

Weird MoPoly behavior... I went through my SD card making edits to tags, eliminating duplicates, and transcoding my .aif files to .flac. I also deleted all the data base files so they would be updated from scratch. I have a 400Gb card with about 1Gb free. Poly did her thing re-indexing about 10 minutes worth of Christmas lights (red, green) then went blue over blue for. This morning when I turned it on the Christmas lights started again. Has there been an update, or has anyone seen multiple re-indexing behavior like this?:cold_sweat:
