i have the latest with mqa, but i turned it on yesterday and saw it displaying 2 horizontal bars, updating and something running from left to right, this is why i ask

I don't think you can access Tidal Master when you are using a non MQA player.

This you can. Sent my N8 away to Romi this week and had a play about on my tablet this morning, played a masters album no problem.

So from a bit more digging, Tidal would do this 1st unfold regardless if the transport was mqa or not then the n8 would do the second unfold?

*just thinking this through, it'll be no different to a pc with MQA dac hooked up.

We didn't have any N8 firmware after v3.0, so that should be a false alarm.

And is there any new firmware coming or is the N8 frozen with its bugs until the end of time?!..

More freq adjustment and more pre-set EQ options is technically feasible, but we didn't receive any request along this line so far, The most frequently challenged issue about EQ in N8 is the res restriction and this is again limitation of the MCU, the resampling work will require too much processing power.

It will be nice to have a choice of frequencies which allows the use of oratory1990 headphones profiles. I also dream of a crossfeed feature... Is anything of these feasible?

For example try to play with the eq while playing some music, good chances the player will crash. The player will crash with big cards. and I know it is not a bug but what about a small search feature to find artists and song. In 2020 is it too much to ask for a 3000 dollars player?!..

Well in my case I have stock FW so no issues with EQ. I use 512 sd card.

8K DAP is not that as far away as you can imagine. the LP6 Ti is around $6000,

I think the $6000 excludes VAT & duty? I don't believe there's a UK importer of the LP6 Ti so I think it would be $6000 + about 20% so $7200 after import costs (about £6000!!). However good the LP6 Ti might be, I ain't paying £6000 for a DAP.
I'm very happy indeed with my N8 BB + Focal Utopia + OIDIO cable set-up. I don't personally want to stream, I don't want to Bluetooth but understand other N8 users might use these facilities. I use a leather mini man bag as Balanced makes the N8 quite hot and I don't want a heavy DAP in my pocket. For train/plane use, I use my Questyle QP2R + a compact & cheap pair of fold-up AKG noise cancellers but I take my N8 & Utopias on holidays as well.
I bought my N8 BB in September 2019 so could be in the market for an upgraded version in 2022? I don't use the Valve option, just Balanced but I thought it was lots of fun that I was buying a DAP with a mini valve in it. I would be looking for a 30% increase in SQ and be willing to pay more in return. Could the N8 get much closer to the LP6 Ti without the silly cost?

The only update I'd also like is being able to type the 1st letter of an artist to make it quicker but this is a minor issue. I have no bugs and am using the software updated in September 2019 when I purchsed my N8 BB. I was listening to the new Nicole Atkins album ' Italian Ice' at 16/41 this morning as I prepared breakfast and it was a joyous & wonderful experience. Thank you, Cayin!
