Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
May 15, 2021 at 4:37 PM Post #5,971 of 8,192
Just when we thought the music player scene is a little lacklustre, Cayin decides to show-hand their ultimate expression of the N6ii series.

Was considering writing off the N6ii series (not a fan of modular concept although i can understand its appeal), but this Ti edition is intriguing.
Am now wondering if Cayin has a successor player, non-modular, running this latest R2R architecture in future, else may probably jump on this one.
I believe Cayin wrote on their FB page, that this was the only R2R product they were making.

The first, not the only.
(Ok that makes it the only as of now)

However they confirmed that R2R will also be used in future products, as the N6ii alone can never compensate all the R&D that went into it.

I’d be interested to know what the battery life is like running the R01. I must say though that I am intrigued by what R2R may offer.

A video on how to open this and which battery n6ii uses would be a great way to help us new people when battery needs change , my dap goes like for 8hours straight with a wifi connection and t01 module 😁

if there were a video tutorial i still not confident to do it my self, i don't have the requirements skill, once i broke my android phone coz trying opened them my self. and since this toy is over 1000 bucks im not feel playing with it physically. i just got mine a few days ago with E01 & haven't get to know it very well, since i only play them to go to sleep about half an hour every night, hell i don't even know how to set the timer so it can shut down by it self. well this is my 1st andro dap.

Well, R2R and FPGA are similar in a way that they both heavily relying on the (makers) algorithms.

R2R discrete made by Rockna is not necessarily the same quality as MSB for examples. Anyways, you get the thrills. The same as DAC chips!

anyways, I am glad to see Cayin is joining in the 🤩. Now since C9 was good and the ways Cayin develop a product is well planned out. I will be waiting for the next dap that can be a source to C9

Cayin stuff is really hard to to find in the UK right now. Does anyone know of an outlet who will have stock of the R01?
Audio Concierge stock Cayin products. You could reach out to @PhilW to see if he will be getting the R01 in.

What do you think the Gold buttons and Dial are made of?
