It depends upon how good the tech was who serviced it the first time was. For me, the first thing I typically hear that goes wrong are scratchy pots: static when making adjustments on volume, balance, tone controls. That is usually a very inexpensive fix, usually a good cleaning and Deoxit on the pots.I got a silly one as I’m newer to vintage gear.
If I get an amp recapped and all fixed up is there a suggested maintenance time where I should bring it into a shop or am I good for a bit?
My Sansui 881 just returned from the shop for that very issue, as well as fixing a couple of the lights it set me back 100 bucks and I had last had it in the shop seven years prior. Still using OG caps.
