Consider an inexpensive CMOY or a mid-priced small amp. You won't regret it. I can't believe how great they sound amped.

Sony EX51 all the way. The cable deteriorates very fast, tinny bass and no highs at all. I had bought them for about 50 USD before I found Head-Fi, what a waste of money.

Though, the most regrettable thing I have done, is joining Head-Fi.

Sony MDR7509HD. I had the knowledge of Head-Fi to buy something better and I didn't. I haven't made a mistake like that since and I won't ever again. It's a good headphone, but there are much better ones out there for the price. It's for monitoring, not for casual listening.
