What kind of cable you had from fiio? is it like this : https://www.fiio.co.in/collections/...ilver-mmcx-short-cable?variant=17751640506473
or this :https://www.fiio.co.in/collections/accessories/products/lc-c-series-replacement-cables
As i am looking to get some fiio balanced mmcx cable and really don't want it to bee sibilant
This one... I did not like it. Construction, design and materials are great, sound with the DM6's and my source not so much (IMO)

First thing that I did when I got my DM6's was to swap the cable for a balanced one as well as changing the tips. My current configuration is as follows:

Source: iBasso DX150 with AMP6 - This is a warm and dark source (IMO).
Cable: Kinboofi 8 core copper cable
Tips: KZ Star Large (I have big ears :D) Silicone

Right now I believe I have around 200 hrs on them, no sibilant at all, very detailed and full sound, none of the IEM's in my collection can touch them.

At the beginning I used a different cable (a FIIO one, silver), they were sibilant (I do not believe in cables, but this is what I noticed). My BGVP copper cable is on the way (I just like how it looks and the quality of the 3.5mm original cable).

So can we take that as the DM6 improved and became smoother over time ?

I’m guessing you never gave the standard supplied cable a go. I have been using the BGV OCC for the last 100hrs or so and when I compared it to the supplied SPC I couldn’t really hear a big difference. None of the original sibilance issues with either cable now.
From my experience the BGVP is cosmetically nicer but didn’t add much to the sound. Maybe my V30 as the source isn’t good enough to show the difference.

I’m now looking at other cables and probably ones that are OCC with silver. With sibilance all gone for me I think I can afford to have a little push in the high details from having silver.

@MariusAB if you still suffer from occasional sibilance maybe you should consider a cable that’s only copper and without silver. ie not FIIO as they are silver plated.

I recall the following all OCC getting good praises

NICEHCK MMCX/2Pin Connector 3.5/2.5/4.4mm Balanced 8 Core 6N GC-OCC Single Crystal Copper Cable For AS06 BA10 NICEHCK EBX M6 N3

Thanks, one user here have recomended it with his high end source for dm6. I liked its construction and look but sound different thing and this is more important. If this tend to sibilance then not my type
I use this cable with my dm6 ... no issues with sibilance.
But cannot tell for all dm6 out there ... what I’ve heard so far there are different types out there ...

I did not notice any sibilance since the beginning, but it was dependent on the cable used.

I did use the supplied one, however, at the very beginning I went balanced.

Yes, I am buying the BGVP copper one just for cosmetic purposes.

Have both too and would not want to get rid of neither the KP nor the DM6... Second the proposal to try another cable with the DM6...

3rd warning before selling. You might miss a great IEM with fantastic sound if you have heard the DM6 only with the stock cable so far. Then, it still may be an IEM that you don't like... But the stock cable is so crappy that I almost put my pair up for sale before switching to a good copper cable. Up to you, but trust the good advice around here before selling it.

Today, I had a great time in the best portable hifi shop in Switzerland. Took the DM6 and the Sony Z5 for a ride along with my DAPs, ZX300 and Cowon Plenue M2. Once there, I spent a hour with the AK SR15. Nice little device, solid built, nice and responsive UI. Soundwise a bit disappointing, especially for the price and compared to my 2 DAPs, which, to me, sounded slightly less congested. At USD 500.- it would have been a winner. At USD 799.-, not so much. Then came the AK SP1000M... USD 2179.- in my country. DM6 in SE with Sony MUC-M12SM2 cable connected to the beast. The Sony ZX300 is behind by quite a margin in terms of dynamics and resolution. The Cowon with the Jet Effect EQ did much better and even if it's a 2016 DAP (3.5mm output only, with no streaming, BT, WiFi, etc...), it is impressive that this DAP can almost hold the comparison with the SP1000M, which is 4x the price. The truth remains that the DM6 and the SP1000M is a heavenly combination. The trigger will be pulled sooner than later :)

I own the DM6 since a month now and it has approx. 80 hours mileage. It gets better every week. I almost cannot hear my Sony N3 anymore, which now sounds to bassy and a bit muddier, with recessed mids.

The Final E5000 and the Sony Z5 remain ahead... For the time being...

I experienced major changes reaching around 200hrs so yeah they will continue to improve. Look forward to your updates vs Z5/E5000 as you reach those hours.

Just ordered a NiceHCK copper cable to see how things change. Thanks for the suggestion.

As you are going to give the DM6 a chance take a look at the tips post if not already seen -
