Beyerdynamic T90 Discussion and Support Thread

Are these legit though? I always feel iffy when buying from eBay. Amazon has amazing customer support so that's one of the reasons I choose to buy from them. But if this offer is significantly better (which it is), I will consider.

I've bought several items from Buydig over the years and I've never had an issue with anything I've bought.  I've seen seen some less than stellar reviews here and there regarding their customer services.  Again I've never had an issue with anything I've purchased from them and thus have never had to deal with after sales support.

Buydig is apparently run/operated by BeachCamera and both Buydig and Beach Camera are listed as Beyerdynamic dealers on the manufacturers website.

I grabbed pair of these, at the $229 price from Buydig, as I've been intrigued by the great reviews however I'm a bit concerned by the general consensus regarding overly bright treble.  I own the DT880s and DT990s and I do find them both to be bright headphones however only the DT990 has ever had what I'd call problematic or painful highs and that was only with sub par amplification and or highly compressed music sources.  With ample, clean power and great source material the DT990s sound very detailed and spacious with little harshness.

I did own the T70p for awhile, I sold them, I just could not get used to the thin, distant and hollow bass and midrange on anything but the most non-aggressive tracks  To make things worse they were so treble forward that the sucked out bass and midrange made them sound even more bright and harsh. From what I've gleaned through user reviews the T90 should not have the same issues that the T70p suffered from.

They should be here later this week.  Can't wait to give em some ear time!

I just received my pair of T90 Chrome edition (bought from another another ebay seller before Christmas). I confirm the treble at 8.5kHz is indeed very strong and needs -5dB EQ taming it down.

There is no T 90 Chrome Model. Inside on the phone there stands "Jubilee". It is the Jubilee model.
The T 90 was builded in one generation without modification(only Bag changed, I have the newer one) from Spring/Early Summer 2012 till Autumn 2016.
The T 90 Jubilee(so called "Chrome" of buydig) was produced in 2014.

Does anyone pair their T90 with a Grace m9XX? Can anyone offer impressions? What does the bass on the T90 compare to? How sharp is the treble spike compared to the DT990 600 ohm? Would I expect less of a lower end wrt to the DT990? Does the price drop below $239 often (with the exception of last week's $229 price)?

Many thanks!

As you can see from all these posts, that is not correct.

The Jubilee was a limited edition 1000 pieces - they are all long sold out, I received one of the last ones that Beyerdynamic still had via massdrop. The Chrome versions as you can see on the serial number - are later models. I have number: 0776....

So either Beyerdynamic still had "old stock" of the 100 pieces T90 Jubilee and went through the effort of getting them a new serial number and sticker, OR they decided silently to produce more of the lovely design as it sold quite well and looks much better than the previous brown (which I sold to buy the Jubilee)...but there definitively IS a T90 Chrome being sold, that does not have the Jubilee marker.

I think Beyerdynamic had the "chrome" parts over-produced, then they came up the idea of special "chrome" edition of T90 and DT880 (yes, there is special chrome DT880 on ebay) to use up the over-produced parts.

Hm, maybe I ´ ve seen them in factory shop at Beyerdynamic in Heilbronn. But no clue.
Now I believe it, when I see this package.

Then there where T 90 package so dark like that of the T 90 Chrome. I showed not exactly at that in the shelf.
I had a date in Heilbronn and I was using the rest day to go in the factory shop and compare the DT 1990 Pro with the T 90. My package at home is the light grey one and my T 90 is from 2015.
The exemplar to test was the normal one, too. I had no idea in the dark packages could be some thing as a chrome or anonther Version of a T 90. Price was in Oktober there for 349 €.

I also heard short the T 1 2. Gen. But the T 90 stays with me.
Was there in summer 2012 to visit the factory in society of other member of german hifi-forum under the leading of a former clerk in the microphome developement.

The DT990 just went on Massdrop. I am not too familiar with Beyerdynamic headphones. I tried on the T90 and loved it, but since DT990 is also open-back, can anyone tell me the differences between the two? DT990 is $239 on Massdrop, $219 if more than 5 people back it. Is this worth the consideration? T90 Chrome is also $239 on Buydig on ebay, so what's everyone's verdict?

For about the same price I would say to get the T90 Chrome. It is indeed a technically more capable (resolving power, imaging, efficiency) headphone compare to the DT990 600ohms, and with comparable bass impact after burn-in.
