The T1.2 is a step up for sure, but only you can decide if it is enough of a jump to justify the $$. If you're in NJ, you should come take a listen.

As the prices many places on the T90 is over 60% less than the T1.2 at the moment the T1.2 must be much better than the T90 to justify the pricetag. Especially if the rumour is correct that the T90 is 80-90% already there soundwise compared to the old T1. If you've got money to splash why not buy the T1.2, but otherwise spend your money elsewhere instead. That's at least how I see it.

Agreed. In the world of high end audio, the law of diminishing returns holds true. For the sake of argument, let's say that listener X finds that to his ears, the T1.2 sounds 20% better than the T90, while costing 50% more (actual MAP pricing).  To many, that's a great deal. To others, not worth it. Every inch closer to "perfection" costs more and more.

I'm in Northern NJ. Where can I take a listen?

I am who preferr T1.1 by a large margin. I hate how most flagships have veiled, recessed, lifeless upper mids. Boring, veiled or recessed upper mids are never working for rock, metal and other music that requires energy in general.

And you still have a HD650?

I was listening it with Fiio e12 wich had a boosted upper mids and sound was very engaging, but With T1 i dont need amplifier which have boosted upper mids to compensate shortcomings of headphone... I also got to add that boosted presence range while noticably increase energy, but the downside is that Soundstage is dramatically smaller than Flatter amps.

Oh, i have HD650, because some music not require much energy from upper mids. I still have it because it can absolutely shine with world class lower and middle part of mids, it can also shine with brightly masterd music or with bad quality material. If i only can have one headphone it will never be Sennheiser HD650 or similar, because they lack energy to play aggressive genres... T1 on the other hand is never bad or average and always is from good to excellent.

HD650 has mildly boosted upper mids to my ears as well.  Very fun and engaging sound overall.

Hello everyone, I am sort of in a love hate relationship with my T90s and need some help, currently I use a Schiit Fulla, but I still have 5 days to refund it which I am going to do and get me a proper dac/amp for the T90. Can someone recommend me something for under $200 (dac/amp combo preferred) but $100 max budget for each one. I need the harshness of the treble to get in control, so I am guessing I need a tube amp? If I can bring that harshness of the treble down a notch, these will be my dream cans.

I was looking at this:  http://www.amazon.com/Nobsound%C2%AE-Vacuum-Integrated-Amplifier-Headphone/dp/B014FASL1A/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1464483011&sr=8-3&keywords=tube+amp  and then buy a really nice DAC like the SMSL M8 which is on Massdrop right now for $179... puts me a little over budget, but I am new to this world... please any help would be appreciated, otherwise I am going to have to sell these babies, and I really do love them for a lot of things, even EDM music :D  sometimes, JUST sometimes it gets so harsh i have to stop, but I think this is because I need proper dac/amp.

Hi guys, I need to bring down the harsh treble on my t90s, currently I use schiit fulla but I am going to sell it soon because I think I need a tube amp since I prefer warm and smooth sound while still maintaining the great detail/imaging/soundstage.

My budget is $200, I was thinking about the Nobsound 6J9 vacuum tube off amazon for 50 bucks.  or the Aune T1 SE MK3 for $199 on Massdrop, I love these T90s but I just am new to this world and need some guidance in the dac/amp department, these are the only cans I plan to own besides my Pioneer SE-A1000 cans for the next 2-3 years... so I really want to pair the right dac/amp to the T90.

Hi, I have never auditioned an Aune T1 (either of its renditions) so I cannot tell you whether or not it will have the desired effect but please be mindful of this - it is not a tube amp, it is a tube DAC with a solid state amp portion built into it for the sake of convenience. If your budget is $200 go over an extra like 20 or 40 dollars and get in on the Darkvoice 336SE active on Massdrop right now. It is a proper tube amp and very competent with almost all headphones as far as I'm aware - I can attest that it does indeed help tame the T90 highs, it's great for its price even with stock tubes (in my opinion) and you always have the option to upgrade later down the line if you so choose to.

Thanks I will do this, I need a cheap DAC to go with it then? As this is amp only correct? I can't afford two high parts, so grab the Darktune, and can you recommend like a $50 DAC? Or can I somehow jimmyrig my Schiit Fulla DAC to the Darktune?
