Hello,

I just completed this amp:

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/headphone-systems/229934-version-o2-desktop-amp-oda.html

I have posted several pictures and comments here as well:

Pix at post 2891,

My favorite headphone is the BeyerT90 and this new ODA amp really shines with these cans...

NOTE: This combo cost approx. $375. I would match this pair against a Crack anyday,

FYI
Alex

Nice looking set. I would love to hear the ODA!

What is the output impedance?

Sorry, I am not clear about you statement :
  • Are you saying that you have heard the Crack &  the O2 sounds better than the Crack with T90 ?
  • Or are you saying that you would like to compare it with the Crack & think that O2 will be better than the Crack with the T90 ?
Thanks

I have not heard the T90's with the Crack.

I have heard them with other tube amps.

My opinion is that the ODA + ODAC + T90's would be better than the crack and T90s's.

Just because my definition of perfection is to use equipment that doesn't add or take away anything from the source.

Tube amps usually add to a source signal.

I believe  many folks like the T90 with the Crack because of the highs on the T90 are not to there liking,,,,IMO.

The ODA with the T90's with a well mastered and recorded song is really very, very good...

Listening to Johnny Cash the other night I swore he was in the room....

But I would really like to hear a crack with my T90s's just to see how toned down it makes them sound.

I might like it, but I doubt it

Also I implied that for A little under $400 you can have an amp and dac that is world class and use your money for headphones!!! and cd's etc....

All you have to do is learn to solder!

Solid-state + T90 = WIN

Depends on the person, some like solid state, some like tubes and some like both with the T90.

While the T90 is sounding quite OK with an Schiit Asgard, Nuforce iconHDP etc. it really starts to SING with the Crack + Speedball. I don't have the feeling I am missing any detail, it's just much more pleasurable to listen to. The Schiit Valhalla also beats my solid state amps but has to succumb to the crack.

Not if you have the right amp. Drive it with a Bottlehead - plenty of bass.

As a former owner of a set of DT990/600s, there is noticeably less bass when comparing it to the T90s. The T90s have plenty of bass... but the DT990s have a lot more. :xf_eek:
For me, that's a plus because I found the 990s bass to be too much/overwhelming when I was comparing it to the DT880s but found the T90s just right. I feel that the T90s are a refined merging of the 880s and 990s.

Also, to no one in particular.... I have a set of T1s coming. :D

The bass on the T90's are close to perfection to me.

It may be that people listen to cans that are a bit overly emphaszes on the low end and the presence is fuller...and you
get used to that sound and when a more accurate can comes along it sound less bassy?

I play Brian Brombergs's 'Wood" Cd and use the "All Blues" cut to hear what real solid bass sounds like.....not just the distorted
bass on a cranked up bass guitar etc...

If this cut sound accurate to me then I know how well or how lousy other sources are.
