the meier stepdance looks interesting, but i don't like to change batteries. for a portable device, i would like to charge it by usb or at least over a power supply.

How long could you run this compo whit one battery?

Around 12 hours with good 9V batteries.

There certainly are options out there, I just mentioned the Stepdance as it is a really good match with the T5ps, but I bet there are other options too.

Jude, was your a special order that came with the Metal box of the T1? I would take that any day over the case that i got with my T5p. Do you know where i can get the metal case from?

My T5P just arrived.
I am rather close to extasy.
Stunning stright out of Sansa Fuze, even with 192kbit files (but only just, - vaw rips seem to sound the best).
A bit more fun than DT 1350. Latter considerably improvewd over a month --  let's see if any burn-in of T5P will take place.
In the meantime, they just beg for a bottle of Pauillac or Margaux.

I think the T5p now comes with the metal box, I heard somewhere, not sure.  Let's face it the T1 looks better, it's open-air, and it has a... metal box!  Clearly the portable (32 ohm), closed-back, T1 in reindeer skin without a box, is a joke... and it even costs the same!

Your comment above makes it sound like you hate the T5p, or the idea of the T5p, compared to the T1...

Either way, I love these cans. I actually did a pretty cool test to see how accurate the T5p's are at recreating the original source. I A/B'd a live orchestra playing the works of John williams and a lossless recording playing the same pieces through my T5p's. I've gotta say I'm pretty impressed with how true to the live sound these headphones are. Especially the depth and separation.

I just ordered the T5p hoping it will be a great upgrade from the T70p which I have come to love very much. A few years ago I never thought I would prefer closed headphones but I find them much more valuable when listening in the living room and at the office. The T70, T70p and the DT-1350 totally changed that.

No not yet. 6 weeks delivery time. So I still have 4 weeks to wait.

On Beyerdynamics website they talk about a "New Version":

New version supplied with:
• transportation bag
• aluminium storage case

Should I expect any changes to the headphone itself?
