Wow the pad replacement on these headphones is plain stupid

I agree! Leatherette ear pads are very difficult to put on the headphones. How do you like their sound?

The pleather pads are almost impossible to get on correctly and I damaged one of the pads. The velors are a shade better to get on but its still a pain. Its ridiculous.

They're still burning in but I my initial impressions are very positive.

But the earpad nonsense put me off big time. I spent hours today on this crap and my fingers are hurting. If there's one reason I'll get rid of these its the stupid earpad design.

There’s an easier way to do it. Pop off the ring that the pads feed onto and put them on then put the ring with pad on it back on the earcup where the notch is. Popping the ring off is also how you replace the inside foam as well as get into the headphone but don’t worry the driver is snug in there and takes effort to take out so don’t worry about driver getting lose. The DT 1990 and Amiron Home have the same problem with the pads, the Amiron Home is the most annoying of the bunch and basically requires the popping off the ring method to change pads. Much prefer the T1.2, DT 770/880, DT 150, etc. pad replacement method.

Here is how to do it. I use my fingers but you may need a blunt knife to help pop off the ring, especially the first time doing it. This method prevents any pad damage. This is on the Amiron but it’s the same system.







The notches can be seen on the ring and housing.

I had the T5p ii at one point. Now that I've listened to the DT1770 and DT150, I would take either of those anyday over the T5p.The T5p has great detail but it was lacking in the bottom end. The DT150 and 1770 are more to my liking. Well rounded and works with almost anything you throw at it. Hope that helps.

Now that I can change pads I went back to the velors. The bass seems a bit loose on the pleathers. Might try the Dekoni. The headphones are still breaking in but these and the DT150 maybe my office phones. Leaving the pad issue aside, these are really great headphones for the money.

Cosmetically, I love it. Quality piece. Great looking set of cans and the cable is very practical and nice too. Sonically I do like what I hear so far but its a bit rough around the edges and I'm hoping that will settle. I may also recable it and see what improvements that brings.

Yeah, just like the DT770. I like its design a lot and the velour pads are very comfortable too and has excellent noise isolation. Just wanted to hear others their experiences on the 1770 and T5p.

And what do you mean it's a bit rough on the edges? Got example? (English is not my native language)

I meant to say the treble and bass have not settled. The highs have a bit of an edge. Hoping it will smooth out after its worked a few hours.

Wish I had the t5p with me to compare, but there was a reason I purchased it twice and sold it because it didnt have the bottom end (bass). I love good quality bass.

Ah I get it.

The only one thing I don't like about the T5p are the pads. Velour pads are much more comfortable and less sweating. I wish I could replace but I truely suck it. Almost screwed up one pad on my 880 as a test... And I also wish there were earpads covers to protect the earpads from sweating and hair getting in. I ordered and they are too tight. Beyerdynamic earpads covers are overpriced IMO.
