The 1770 is pretty hard to drive, it seems.
Not really too difficult to drive. Any half-decent amplifier can get good levels out of it.

How's the DT1770? Recommended or not? I read on Beyerdynamic website it has a excellent spaciousness and all and it caught my attention because it's closed-back. Or is the T5p better?

I've owned both the T5p, and the T5p Gen 2. I prefer the 1770 to both of these models.
The 1770's have beautiful, extended bass which is lacking from both the T5p models. The 1770's have more of a 'V' shaped sound-signature, which is preferable to me.
I think the 1770's are the ultimate semi-portable closed back set of cans. Almost perfect for a closed-back can, IMO.

Yeah, just like the DT770. I like its design a lot and the velour pads are very comfortable too and has excellent noise isolation. Just wanted to hear others their experiences on the 1770 and T5p.

And what do you mean it's a bit rough on the edges? Got example? (English is not my native language)

And sure, take your time.
I prefer the velour pads with the 1770's over the pleather pads. MUCH more comfortable!

What does V shape means exactly? Like the DT880 or the sibilance? And with the semi-portable, you mean you can take anywhere else? I might get a 1.2m or 1.5m cable. 3m is getting tedious after a while. I assume it can be driven easily by portable devices. I like bass but only balanced and good quality.

Exactly! Not only the velour pads are much more comfortable, they also prevent sweats sweating. I have the Marshall MID and its pleather pads are not that nice. Sweating and cold too.

A 'V' shaped sound-signature means that the mids are slightly recessed, compared to the bass and treble registers. A lot of cans are tuned this way. But with the 1770's it's subtle. It has nothing to do with sibilance.
And yes, I use my 1770's on-the-move. I've bought a shorter mini-XLR cable to connect to the 1770's, and also the Beyer hard portable case, which makes transporting them and handling them on the move so much easier. Also, because they're closed-backs, they're ideal for trains, buses etc.

Ah I see. I have the 880 and some content it sounds like knives in my ears, i thought that's what V shape means.

Exactly what I was thinking. They do have excellent noise isolation.

The problem is that with velor ear pads, the 1770s play out like laptop speakers. People a meter away will listen to your music.
Not in my experience they don't.

When I listened to my 1770 with velor, my brother, a meter away, was very indignant that he clearly hears everything that plays in my headphones. The volume was average. There are no such problems on Custom Studio, Custom One Pro, 770 32.
He must have very sensitive hearing then.
I used my 1770's with velour pads on-the-move for years, on buses and trains, and have had zero complaints from anyone else close to me, or from anyone I've travelled with.

No, it is not. When I gave him these headphones and he listened to the music in them at medium volume, I myself heard that they are playing out very loudly. Alas.
Interesting, just like my sister can hear anything. They do have sensitive ears as kelly said. But to be honest, the sound doesn't have to be very loud. We all have two ears and have to be carefull with them during our whole life.
