Has anybody tried the Softears UC Liquid Silicone Eartips?

Those look enticing, judging by the video you provided and the AE reviews, they are a proper treat for the ears. Might be getting these, thanks for the heads-up!

Also I ended up breaking down and ordering the Talos, those tips look very nice and I don't mind another planar to my collection, even if I have several already. Will leave impressions of the Talos tips and the UC Liquid if I do get those as well.

Do you have a weblink for ordering the Talos tips?

I'm new to the forum and have a question about ear tips causing skin irritation. I play bass in a covers/wedding band and use CCA C12s. While I am very happy with the sound, the stock tips and the SpinFits I replaced them with cause me skin irritation after every gig. My ears are sore, weep (I'll spare the details) and take five days to heel. Every week! I must have an allergy to silicone. I have looked at on ear alternatives and have tried cans from Sony and AKG but the sound quality is just not as good. We operate with a silent stage i.e. no guitar cabs on stage. Everything is mic'ed and goes out through the front of house PA. From that point of view, I am stuck with using some form of IEMs but just need some feedback from experienced forum users on tips that do not cause irritation or at best, it is minimal. From a quick search, I did see something here about the Sedna Max standards? Are they worth picking up? Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

If you think it could be silicone that's the problem, I'd recommend trying foam tips instead, like these:

Might also be worth trying a higher grade of silicone, like these medical grade ones:

Thanks for the reply. I have a set made by New Bee that I have worn a couple of times when I first got into IEMs. I preferred the feel of silicone but foam tips might be the only option I have. What about Sedna? Worth trying or just more silicone?

You could try tennmak tough foams. They have a smooth outer layer that may or may not feel better.

Same shape as the new bee.

Look up the silicone tips and you will see that some use "food grade" (or unspecified) silicon and some use "medical grade" silicon. The medical silicon is designed to be used in prosthetics where it remains in skin contact for a long time. From memory, the newer SpinFit CP100+ were also medical grade. Some other eartips are not silicone but TPE, that could be another option. Cleaning your eartips between use could also help, as it is possible to get recurrent ear infections if you don't do that (particularly with damaged skin).

The TENNMAK foams assassin10000 suggested are very good, if you end up switching to foam tips. Cheap, and they last longer than other foams!

Well, I just broke the code of the FitEar A111 = now equipped... with "real" Canal Works cat paws Narrow tips, L.

Top notch. 😎🔝👌

I had cobbled together some "CW Gel narrow" like.... I was amazed at how colorful it was compared to "real" cat paws. 😱

Case closed, signature up to date. 👍
