If considering the monoprice headphones i recommend the 8323 model instead the 8324 which i didnt like.

The htf-600 is the best sounding $30 hp that I've ever heard hands down. I still listen to it often.

Just drilling some holes? Are there any replacement pads I could buy that would give me a better seal, better sound quality, and more comfort?

There's a second Modding thread that covers dampening materials, acoustic foam, etc.

As for pads, you can likely use any pad for any 50mm headphone. Alternatively you can take DIY to.the next level and sew your.osb.pads.

I'd also recommend the Monoprice DJ headphones (8323, I think). They sound awesome for the price. I also have the HTF600s, but it's been a while since I've listened to them. I think they're comparable in overall sound quality, but that's just going off memory. The HT600s have HORRIBLE build quality, though. My left driver is super messed up, and they're very flimsy overall. That alone makes the Monoprice headphones much better for me.
 
I slapped some Dynamat and Acousta-Stuff in my Monoprice headphones. They sound great, and not just for the price!

Hmm, could you define EXACTLY all that you did to them? If I get them, I'd like to get some good information on what I can do to them. I want to mod the heck out of them.

     Just placed my order for some Monoprice 8323's. Fingers crossed I fall in love with them.
Also, I think I will eventually order some beyerdynamic velour pads for them.

They suit bass heavy music well and have excellent clarity and pretty nice detail.

 
It is true, they are a fantastic pair of headphones. As long as you stay indoor that is or, if you remove the steel armored cable. My cable broke near the jack plug because of the weight of steel armored cable whilst I was listening to my mp3 player (which was in my pocket). As long as you don't plan to use them outside, you are probably good. Otherwise I would strongly recommend to remove the steel armored cable. Also, soldering the cables to a new jack plug is not fun with these headphones. Not fun at all.

It really bothers me that nobody read the ops post correctly. He was asking for a good can that he could specifically use as a DIY project, yet A. You guys were suggesting headphones OVER $25, and cans that aren't as easily modded.
