You live in Cali. Go to Guitar Center and check out the DT770's. After listening to them you'll understand why they are the most recommended. They remind me of a car stereo system. The bose heaphones remind me of a pair of tweeters with the bass end equed way up. I have listened to a lot of headphones and the best for impactful thumping booming bass is the 770's. It's nothing like the grados if thats what your worried about. Imagine the bass in any rap song. Thats what they sound like.

Beyers are a good recommendation, but instead of the DT770, I'd seriously consider checking out the DT150, which have a wider soundstage, at least as much bass, and a great sound signature for movies and games.
