Now listening with the AV4. I'm liking the sound so far. It sounds like the AV2 with extra bass. It's smooth, with buttery-warm vocals. The AV2 IMO is good for female vocals, and the AV4 for male vocals. Bass reaches deeper, and treble is more extended. It has a similar forward midrange presentation. Stage size is also similar with the AV2. Its tone is warm-ish neutral, as opposed to the AV2 bright-ish neutral. It has a higher resolution than the AV2. The bass hits pretty hard, but it never takes the highlight of the midrange away. Good quality, and control. Treble is lovely and non-fatiguing. It's gentle, smooth, and clear. Note size is slightly heavier than AV2. The AV2 is light, and leaner, however I think the AV4 has a better separation ability because of it's high note-definition. The AV4 adds more weight to the lower-midrange adding more body to the sound.

I haven't been using the Zeus much since I got the AV4 because of its annoying hiss. The AV4 is definitely warmer than the Zeus. It sounds smoother, but less detailed. The Zeus portrays every notes very specifically, without being too analytical. The midrange is clear, and bass tight. The AV4 I think has a larger, and bloomier bass which suits male vocals, and deep/low frequency instruments well. The treble is less prominent on the AV4 than the Zeus, making the Zeus sounding sparklier, and has more resolution overall. The separation ability on both are great, the AV4 having a thicker, but slick buttery notes, and the Zeus having a leaner, more precise imaging. I adore the sub-bass on AV4.

Compared to the Prelude, the AV4 sounds similarly warm. Note size is thicker on the AV4, due to its bass. The Prelude note size is slightly leaner, and overall presentation airier. Its separation ability is more adept. Bass is bigger on AV4, with the Prelude focusing more on timbre, and speed. Prelude has significantly less sub-bass than AV4. I really like the midrange on both. AV4 has deeper notes making it sound a bit warm, and smoother. Prelude has a clearer imaging due to its more lifted treble, and attenuation of its sub-bass.

Perfect (for my taste) for EDM genre.

The midrange on both are pretty amazing. AV4 has deeper notes making it sound warm, and a bit smoother. Prelude has a clearer imaging due to its more lifted treble, and attenuation of its sub-bass. The soundstage is more spacious on the Prelude. AV4 tends to image each notes more centrally on the stage, while the Prelude is spread more.

I have to confess. Yet again, I gave Avara another difficult assignment but.. they delivered. Super pleased with the outcome. Will leave this here for all to drool!

PS. This is just an AV1. But I'm impressed. Don't be fooled because of the missing 's' or the number of driver. One of the more neutral but musical sound I have heard and enjoyed. Easily an EDC. It has good stage presence in terms of width. Detailed but not dry. Not big on bass but is a little full and fast. Like... A big bouncy ball kinda sound. Haha sorry for the poor description. But I sort of just described what came into my mind. Overall, I would say it's a good starter pack. @ only 165USD (std package), it's worth every penny.

A nice design. The cables too. I also have the AV1 (non-S). And it has a pretty smooth, and balanced sound signature. It's kind of like the combination of AV2 lean sparkly sound, and AV4 voluminous weighty notes. Your impression is funny, but I kinda get it. What source are you pairing it with? The glowing green looks so cool.

The lower lineup isn't to be underestimated IMO. I'm pleased by the AV1 sound quality, comparing it with AV2, and 4. Try the AV3, if you like AV6. They share a similar sound signature, but with different tuning idea.
