The ATH-M70x is exactly the headphone that I have always wished that A-T would make!

I am a huge A-T fanboy (as you can see from my avatar), but the announcement of a headphone like the ATH-M70x is something that I literally thought would never actually happen.

For me, the ATH-M70x is now my #1 choice over any other headphone in the 'Under $300' category.

I will absolutely be getting a pair of these babies the day they come out!

Can. Not. Wait!!!

Thanks for the additional info! I'll add it to page one.
I'm a huge AT fanboy too! (even though my new m50x is my first from them... )

I need a review on them stat

Same here! Heavy breathing...

I want to know how they sound. Right now I'm kinda eyeing down the HD700

Yes, I saw that earlier. I still wonder if it's correct, as it seems unusual for AT to release such a high impedance phone.  I'm not familiar with all of their vast lineup of phones, but do any of them have such a high impedance?  Would definitely need a good amp.

Saw the R70x at NAMM earlier today, didn't even know they existed before I wandered past the AT booth. An open AT headphone with wing system, velour pads, and a detachable cable WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE ESPECIALLY WHEN I WAS ACTUALLY INTO HEADFI.

Anyways, it was a super noisy convention environment so it's hard to say anything too specific about the sound and you shouldn't take anything I say very seriously, but I also demoed the M70x, HD600/650, TH600/900, and some high or at least highish end Sony headphones I can't remember the names of, and I was way more impressed by these than all of them. It must be noted however that I have a massive raging Audio Technica fetish when it comes to headphones.

They felt super comfortable, for me at least. Not so loose that they're falling off my head like the A700, but not so clampy that the drivers are pressing into my ears like the AD2000.

Oh, and yeah 470 ohms isn't a typo.

Not really digging the name plate on the R70x. Wish they've done with a simple AT logo or the ones on the current AD-lineup, but that's just me...
I predict the R70x to be similar to the AD1000X (maybe AD2000X?) in terms of technicality but with a less coloured sound (which I personally love from the AD900X). Well, it is marketed as "professional headphones" so they'll probably aim for a neutral sound this time. Then again, world renowned "studio monitor" M50 isn't exactly neutral.

Still excited nonetheless.

Also, just realized the "DG" in the M50xDG apparently means "dark green" (and shockingly, not Dolce & Gabbana). You really have to look hard enough to notice the very dark green base colour. Probably my favourite M50 colour.

I like the colour scheme of the M70x. I read the the m50 were good, but I didn't buy that.
*looks at wallet after buying Fiio X1, Dunu Dn1000 and a 64 GB SD card*

Edit: Do the M70x produce sounds that make u able to distinguish where the instrument(or singer) is coming from?
For stuff like listening on the go or gaming

Not sure how I Feel about that, you'd think at that price they'd have it made elsewhere that isn't so cheap. HD 600's are made in Ireland at least.

I think he's talking about the R70x not the M70x. It might be made elsewhere still!

At least Made in Taiwan should have decent quality control.
