Perfect for all you OTL tube amp owners out there!

But if the ATH-R70x's 470 Ohms impedance rating is correct, it is going to require an amp capable of outputting some serious juice into very high impedances to perform at its full potential.

Interesting looking cans.  I think I'll wait for prices to come down before considering them. My 50x sound pretty good for the 125 I paid for them.

Have to wonder if that 470 ohms is a misprint? Maybe 47?

I think the M70x would be a tough sell for at 350, more than twice the price of the 50x.  The open can looks VERY interesting.  Hopefully some will be in circulation soon.  AT's open cans just have an airiness that I haven't found better than yet.

Having heard their new range, from MSR-7, IM series to the CKR series. They all sounded excellent. Makes me want to see how well the M70x and the R70x will sound, shouldn't disappoint.

Here are the links to A-T's product pages for the ATH-R70x, ATH-M70x and ATH-M50xDG.

The ATH-M70x is exactly the headphone that I have always wished that A-T would make!  Although I do wish the headband was little wider (purely for aesthetics).  If its headband was about the same width as the M50's, it would look absolutely perfect to me.

I am a huge A-T fanboy (as you can see from my avatar), but the announcement of a headphone like the ATH-M70x is something that I literally thought would never actually happen.

For me, the ATH-M70x is now my #1 choice over any other headphone in the 'Under $300' category.

I will absolutely be getting a pair of these babies as soon as they come out!

Can. Not. Wait!!!

I'm surprised. I do not feel the same way. Not saying that the im series, ckr, and the msr series weren't good. However, they JUST released the msr7 and now an m70x is coming to the US? The heck audio technica? The heck!?
