Audeze Mobius review / impressions
Jun 4, 2020 at 6:09 AM Post #4,831 of 5,780
Left and right now are closer (within production variations), no need to apply different curves to L and R any more.

Here's one more, Music and Flat in one graph:
AUDEZE Mobius Music L+R, changes in Firmware 5: dark orange
AUDEZE Mobius Flat L+R, changes in Firmware 5: light orange

Within measurement uncertainty, the same.
Remember, the drop at 5kHz is likely changes in the earpads by use over time, not firmware changes.

Thanks for posting that, thanks to that I made this:
frequency,raw
10,-1.05
63,-3.2
125,-2.4
167,-1.8
250,-0.4
290,-0.2
333,-0.2
415,-0.25
450,-0.3
500,-0.5
666,-1.05
725,-1.15
900,-0.45
1000,-0.35
1575,0.0
1666,0.1
1800,0.2
2000,0.2
3200,0.25
3300,0.3
3600,0.333
4005,0.333
5600,1.15
6000,0.9
7600,1.0
8000,0.9
8800,1.0
Ignoring high frequency, roughly maps to an inverse of the relative change. Bass changes definitely are the most interesting part, the net result is that if you apply ~1:1 mapping from ~22-80Hz, a Harman bass response results in net gain from 0-22Hz and a reduction from 80-190Hz. Not sure which I prefer atm.

Also yeah I tried understanding the left/right changes but its clearly tuned very specifically to this headphone's design. L+R is much clearer to understand.
Ok, is this still a work in progress, I imagine. Previous convolution files are "wrong" now, given the new info provided by KaiSc? I basically would like to try your "finalized" convolution file which led you to write " I am content. Flat + EQ + all addons (incl semi diffuse-field), 3D Auto 7.1 with Room Reflections at 30, head settings inputted, watching Avatar and Godzilla, surreal. Best headphone cinema experience I've ever had, beats any prior surround solution or headphone."

Best headphone cinema experience is most definitely what I'm looking for, so that quote piqued my interest a lot. :)

Well everything so far is just an OCD tweak of the settings that prompted me to write that. Like, I've refined it but its still fundamentally the same sound. I think I was using slightly warmer then 'Warm' at the time, and have since shifted to Warmer. But diffuse-field + Warm or Warmer is still the same sound, only difference now is that I set Room Reflections to 35, have the gel-pads, and generally dont use the bass boost or treble reduction.

I've just shifted my approach, I've made this, with a reduction in the scale of that mentioned 5KHz notch

and applied it to the curve by itself, resulting in this:

using @KaiSc flat EQ relative difference. So now I can regenerate all the EQ's with this new blue line as the raw frequency response and test the outcome.

First attempt using the adjusted raw frequency response, neutral (no sound signature):

EDIT:
Regenerated all EQ's with this new base curve and reworked Warmer/Warm tuning, that should be it.

Just want to add a +1 to the Dekoni Nuggets as an option for softening the pressure from the headband. As a bald man, the weight of the headphone became quite uncomfortable after about an hour of use. With just two nuggets (comes in a pack of 4) applied to the headband, it is more comfortable now.

I wish I could've used all 4 (and I did try) by adding them to plastic side of the headband but it didn't contact my head so I'm saving them for later
Could you post a picture of the end result? Another user posted a picture where he actually used three nuggets: Audeze Mobius Dekoni Nuggets

Can someone tell me what the impedance for the Mobius is? I checked their site specs and no mention of it. How many ohms is it?

So I have been trying to get the gel filled headphone pads and they are simply not available at all in the United States. I sent a support request to Audeze to see when will they be back in stock, and they said that they are discontinued.

Since I am really interested in the pads, is there anyone in the United States or willing to ship to here that did not like the pads that would be willing to sell them?

Since you cannot bypass the internal amp, I don't think it matters.

At least I can use it with my Sony WM1Z. Good enough

Knowing this, I just bought the last set of gel pads available on yahoo auctions in Japan. Wow. No idea these headphones are getting discontinued. That’s sad

I might not have written correctly. Audeze support told me that the gel pads are being discontinued. Not the headphones. I do not think the headphones are being discontinued at all.

It's in my signature. I wrote that I own the Mobius, the blue one. So I ordered the gel pads. Still sad it's being discontinued

You had a lot better luck than I did! I just gave up on trying to find the Gel Pads, there are nowhere that ships to the United States. Hope you enjoy them!
Don't wanna live with regret for those. Wonder why Audeze still discontinued these. They are so good.
